I'm looking at U. of Rochester and saw all the merit scholarships such as the Renaissance. Does anybody know what the "top 1%" would be like? I think I've got pretty good scores but I don't know what it will take for such a high scholarship.
New SAT: 2270 (I think that's about a 1510 on the old?)
PSAT: 227
SATII: Chem 800, Spanish 770, US History 780, Math IC 720, Math IIC 680 (aaaaah, I hate that score, too bad we can't hide scores anymore!)
AP: Wrld History 5, SPanish 5, CHem 5, US HIStory 4
GPA: 4.173
Then I've got some leadership (president of clubs and I"m the organist and choir director at my church) and I've done lots of community service.
But I don't know if what i've got will cut it, especially with my math 680 score. Is there anybody out there who has gotten a Renaissance or knows what kinds of assets the "top 1 percent" has?
I'd really really appreciate your response so I don't get my hopes too high

The Renaissance scholarship isn't all about grades and scores and extra-curriculars like most other things are. Big parts of it are diversity, overcoming adversity, being a unique person, etc. I know a person who got one with lower test scores, fewer APs, and almost identical extra-curriculars compared to me, mostly because the person had a better diversity bid and such. You really can't predict who's going to get one or why.

i think you'd get good merit aid money - and are pretty set for admission a definite -match- , but i dont know about renaissance material. you need to have like done something HUGe and your essay should bring tears to ones eyes

best of luck though - hope you get it.
