Hey all, I was just curious about my chances at any HYPS schools. Any other suggestions or advice would be great!

I'm a white, male from WA state (eastern part, not Seattle), and will be a senior.

SAT I NEW: 2200 (740 M, 730 CR, 730 W)
SAT II: (760 Chem, 800 IIC)

My school doesn't offer AP's, but I'll graduate w/ an Associate of Arts degree from my local community college.

GPA UW @ High School: 4.00
GPA UW @ College: 3.95-3.97 (still one year left)

Classes:

4+ yrs. HS math w/calculus as sophmore, 3 quarters college calculus 4.0 GPA
2+ yrs. HS science
3 quarters "Advanced Inorganic Chemistry" @ college w/ 3.8 GPA (94% avg.)
1 (maybe more) quarter of 200 level Physics @ college (haven't taken yet)
4+ yrs. Social Sciences/History
3 quarters Japanese @ college 4.00 GPA

EC's:

4 yrs. varsity Math Team, 3 yrs varsity captain w/ state level finishes
4 yrs. varsity Knowledge Bowl, 3 yrs. varsity captain
2 yrs. National Honor Society Member (that's the max @ my school)
Eagle Scout
9 years private guitar instruction (I ROCK!!!)
participant of UDOC (a competitive pre-med interested program)
80+ hrs. volunteering @ local hospital
200+ hrs. volunteering in ER

I'm special because:

I can solve a Rubik's cube in about 1 min 15 sec.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head...so thanks again!

Looks good on your chances. Do you have no more opportunities for science classes? Sucks on the AP thing. Do you have a class rank?

Yeah, I'm #1 in my HS (out of like 100-125, can't remember).

Um, for the science thing, I CAN take more, but it would be difficult. This is why: 15 credits per quarter is considered a full load. Because of my chemistry class, I've spent the last two quarters taking 21 credits, and would have to do the same if I wanted to finish the Physics series. BTW, thus are all in addition to my first 2 yrs. of HS science classes

Thanks again!

Oh I see, I thought you ONLY had 2 years. I see the college classes now. These will definitely benefit you. You're definitely in good shape. Just remember you need one more SAT II.

PS - Did jaded call me cute?

Don't know, I didn't comment because that's what I was thinking...Maybe it was about me, hehe ;)

So, do I need three SAT II's even w/ the new SAT? Didn't they used to count the writing section as a subject? Does that not 'transfer'?

Oh, by the way, is my SAT I score good enough? I wasn't too sure how the new one was going to be weighted.

This may or may not apply and I don't know the specifics, but wasn't there a guy a while back who had taken so many courses at a community college that Stanford told him to apply to their school as a transfer (which is more difficult) rather than a freshman...? Since you're about to get your A.A. degree, I don't know how this would, if at all, apply to you.. just something out there.. I don't know..

TTG

Yeah, that's actually something that's been worrying me. I'd rather they act as just kind of AP substitutes, you know, instead of actual transferable credits. Hrm...maybe something to e-mail them about.

I also recollect the person who posted about Stanford and his application as a transfer rather than a freshman do to the credits he had already completed. However, they allowed him to apply as a freshman and I recall him not getting in.

SAT I is fine. You should give the ACT a try though, see how you do.

So try the ACT, and not another SAT II? Is that about right? Thanks again!

you have an AA, that's cool

yeah, it makes up for no AP's I guess.
