Any chance @ Merit $?

So I just found out the other day that I wouldn't be able to access a lot of $$$ during college, so basically the only way I can go to almost any private school is scholarship...

I think my essay is great.
and if it matters, I'm a first-gen college student.

thanks muchos guys :)

yeah u have a very good shot at merit money i'd say.

I would agree. I think you are a very strong candidate for merit aid. But keep in mind the top merit aid award is currently $15,000 (I assume this will go up, as Grinnell indexes its merit aid awards, based on increases in tuition) so you will still have a significant amount to pay, assuming you are not eligible for need-based aid.

that's very encouraging guys!!! i really didn't think i'd have much of a chance for money @ grinnell.
I doubt that i will get any need-based money (i've talked a bunch w/ finaid offices, and even though money is inaccessible, they basically count it as usable) but a decent chunk off of private school tuition (which is usually similar, generally speaking) might put it in range for me if i take out some loans.
crossing my fingers :)

and also Grinnell is the best college in the world, so u should def go.
