Thanks so much for your help everyone!

I think you have an excellant resume. FYI, your SAT scores are not “bad”-it seems anyone who scores below a 2300 or 2400 these days has that misconception. Yours scores are solid and any improvement in October will only add to the wonderful body of work you have achieved. Be sincere on your essays (no matter what schools you apply to) and you will be in good shape. Good luck and remeber to exhale.

And please REMEMBER to not have any spelling errors.

UPDATE: I got a 670 on the math, 610 on critical reading, and 640 on my writing. I see that Pepperdine is very selective, yet it does not have a very high mid-50% range on the SAT (as in expecting 700s)… I understand that the academic record and the transcript are “most important” to every school, but does anyone know what Pepperdine really wants to see in addition to those two?

Sorry for interjecting, but i really have to know if i have a chance at pepperdine or chapman with these stats:
I am an international student from Serbia, and here are my stats:
SAT: 1800 (june), I retook the sat in october but my scores didn’t come in yet
(I’ll be taking two sat subject tests next week and the toefl in a month, lets assume that i’ll score over 700 on the subject tests and over 100 on the toefl)
My HS GPA is 4.00 and I’m in the top of my class.
ECs:
-I have been working at my mothers store for 10 yrs, 14-21 hrs per week, 365 days a year
-tennis 3 yrs (club)
-table tennis (club)
-phylately 3 yrs
-Member of the Red Cross 1 yr
In my scools we have classes that are mandatory and all students have the same classes…
tnx
please answer, and be polite (i’m sorry but a lot of people have been rude to me, and didn’t really answer my question, they just insulted me and disparaged pepperdine university) :(

Hey, I know I’m not a student or admissions’ worker, but I think you definately have a good chance at Chapman (their acceptance rate is 56% and your GPA and SAT scores are way above average, and you take the hardest classes at your school–since any of the required for all class must be considered the “hardest”–I’m assuming?). You don’t seem to have too many ECs, and none 4 years, which isn’t amazing, but you do have a few for 3 years which is good. Even so, those are not the focus of admissions. Again, I realize I am just as blind as you, but that is my guess.

I’ve heard that Pepperdine is very welcoming to international and minority students in admissions, and as I said before, you are very strong besides your ECs (which are still good, just not amazing). Pepperdine is more selective though, so I’d say you are safer with Chapman, but again I don’t know anything. Hope that helps.

Now…can somebody help me?

Oops! I’m sorry, I just realized that I completely forgot about your job at your mother’s store for 10 years! That is clearly the focus of your extracurricular day, and so now I say that you’re strong in all areas (that you’ve posted) and have a very good chance at both schools. Hope this helps and that I am not mean like other posters!

Finally  thank you so much for this long-awaited answer, this really does help…and I am definitely applying to both schools  if you need anything feel free to ask, I’ll try to help as much as I can :D
