I'm transferring to a UC for Fall 2009, but missed the state and school deadlines. Is there any chance of getting anything still if i apply for FAFSA now?

Yeah, a chance. You can still apply, and it doesn’t hurt. But the financial aid at many of the UC’s may be exhausted by the time they see your app. Call the finaid dept of the school you’re going to and ask.

You can still qualify for Work Study, they usually give it a priority to the students that fill in their FAFSA late. Call your FA department and ask.

You should go ahead and apply. If your EFC is low enough (4617 or below) you would still qualify for the Pell grant. You should also still be able to get Stafford loans of up to $7500 (assuming you are a junior) of which up to $5500 may be subsidized if you have need (EFC is less than the COA). Even if you have a sufficiently low EFC to qualify for them you will probably have missed out on federal aid that has limited funding such as Work Study, Perkins loans and SEOG. Schools have a limited number of $$ for these programs and it is likely those funds have been awarde already. And it is likely you have missed the deadlines for State and instituitonal aid.

WS funding is limited and at most schools is not usually given in priority to students who file late - quite the opposite in fact. Schools often run out of WS funding and are not able to award it to all those that are eligible and have filed on time.
