Bummmppppp

SATs could stand to be a bit higher, ECs look all right, and try to get in the top 3% of your class.

Oh, and brush up on your essay skills, a good essay will help sway the admissions office.

All in all, I'd say it's a little tiny bit of a reach, with your current stats.
However, I have no idea how the admissions office works, so I'm just basing my opinion on what it took me to get in. Dunno. Did I mention write a really good essay that conveys your absolute need to attend (insert school here)?

And JCoveney and legendofmax are forum trolls who like to feed on others' anxiety. Don't listen to them - maybe you could report their posts and get them banned (hopefully). ;)

JCoveney and legendofmax are quite helpful....they USUALLY do that to people who have really good stats who are acting like it's the end of the world. (I m speaking in general, not about the poster)

Your SAT I score seems pretty low for Penn, and esp. for Wharton

Well good thing Wharton isn't engineering then

i think u have a decent shot at SEAS early decision

Don't feel bad kid, they did the same thing to me 2 months ago.

I had slightly better SATs and, if I do say so myself, FREAKING AWESOME SATIIs!

But I never did a sport, so it probably balances out in the end. Who knows?

Getting into Penn is a total crap shoot.

You have 20,000 people attempting to get what? 2500 spots?

Take out the "my parents are both super rich Penn grads who want their precious little girl to get into Penn too" and the "coach picked me" types and that leaves 19,500 people fighting for 2000 spots.

Maybe 4,500 of those can be taken out of the running because they aren't qualified (or have something that takes them out of the race).

15,000 fighting for 2000.

How can it be anything other than random?

You can't possibly pick the 2000 "most qualified" out of 15,000 very smart, very driven 18-year-olds. So they end up having to make tough choices and pull out the Ouija Boards.

Good luck next year, but I'd strongly prefer that you apply to another school instead. You might take my spot, :)

"You can't possibly pick the 2000 "most qualified" out of 15,000 very smart, very driven 18-year-olds."

I was 16 when I applied to Wharton.

J'sEvilAznSister, I just sent you a message. Reply, please.

The smartest thing I've ever read on these forums: getting into Penn is a crapshot. That's basically true. While you can ORIENT yourself to get in, or even have a great chance at getting in, you'll never clinch it...there will always be someone stellar who gets rejected and a 1250 who gets in.

unless u r me then it all makes sense
