WILL I HAVE THE SLIGHTEST CHANCE OF GETTING IN TO UCLA??!?!?!? help please, before I go wallow the whole summer over my horrible sat scores
Sat I: 1940 <- 1st time, retook and did worse
Sat II: U.S. History: 700, Lit: 620, Physics: 550 (GAH HORRIBLE, probably will take sub. tests again)
GPA: (uw) 3.86
rank: considered for ELC, dunno if I got it. my school is around 700 per class
APs: World History (4), U.S. History, Lang. & Comp., Psychology <- other ap grades pending
Senior load: AP Lit. & Comp., Pre-Calc, AP Chinese, Econ., AP Physics B, AP Environmental Science (maybe adv. art)
Extracurriculars: swimming, cross-country, german club
Piano for about 8 years mostly as a hobby, but have taken ABRSM exams
Work/Jobs: volunteering at zoo (approx. 800 hrs. by end of this summer), art camp counselor
ethnicitity: asian
gender: f
school: public, very competitive; is in CA and is also top 100

wow top 100 public school…
well your gpa is already set in stone… =/
improve your SATs and SAT IIs …
I’m assuming you are going to apply under Letters and Science right?
But all in all, yes you do have a chance of getting in… not that high if you don’t up the stuff you can improve on… Study for your SATs I and II right now and take I in Oct (hit over 2000) and for II, take math II (dunno if that’ll help but math sat II seems to be the easiest… or for me… but then again, you are taking pecalc… meh) just improve… and I guess write awesome personal statements!
Somewhat random for UCLA, good luck in your senior year!

Yeah you have a chance. SAT I is sub-par but that hasn’t stopped a lot of people with SAT scores below 2000 of getting in. SAT II scores are dissapointing. The 700 for U.S. History is nice but everything else is unimpressive. Anything below a 600 for SAT II is just not good.

GPA is alright. 3.86 isn’t horrible, especially if your weighted GPA is pretty high.
You have decent (but interesting) ECs.

So I think you’re gonna have to rock the essays if you want a better chance of getting in. Hopefully you’ll get the supplemental questionnaire (or not and get in without it) then you gotta rock the essays again and maintain a high GPA your senior year.

I would guess you’re around someone else I know. She didn’t get into UCLA but she did get into Cal. So, it could be a chance thing.

Dude, honestly, I don’t even freaking know anymore.

My SAT score was poor and I knew this girl who had maybe like, 2100 and she didn’t get into Cal or UCLA.

…very surprising indeed and what was even more so surprising was the fact that I received acceptance. (woot! woot!)

So, just keep pushing yourself. What else can I say, right?

Good luck!

thanks you guys! all your info was helpful. and if not ucla, there’s always ucsd! WOOT
