Any chance of getting into MIT Stanford UCB??

I am currently a Freshmen in CS major at UIUC, but I want to transfer to somewhere better. Probably after my sophomore year.

What do you think about my chance??
College GPA: 3.68 (got a B+ in music which caused my grade to drop but an A+ in calculus)
Honor and activites:- Got invited to join numerous honor societies
- President of one of the student association (youngest president in club history, since 80% of the members are grad students)
- Got selected to join intercollegiate badminton team, get to represent the college in numerous national tournaments.
- Club tennis member (reaching quarterfinal in university tournament)
- Member of Society of business and management club

Part time job: -work 10 hours per week for Center for Simulation of Advanced Rocket, which is sponsored by NASA and US Department of Energy (work along with PHD students in making rocket simulation)

I will have to transfer after my sophomore year because my SAT score is not high due to my low verbal score. Anyone got any idea about my current standing?? What do I still have to improve? Is my gpa alright? along with the activities??

No (10 char)

What does the (10 char) thing mean? atleast I still got time... which part do I have to improve?

10 char means u gotta have 10 characters to post. For MIT + Stanford I'd try to snag a 3.85+ gpa, and 1400+ SAT. Berkeley, if u really wanna go, move to california, go to a year of community college, and transfer in. Berkeley OOS 4 year = hard as ****, in-state comm college transfer = 3.7 and i'd say ur in :)

I agree with LaxAttack. MIT is basically impossible. Stanford is pretty similar in regards to difficulty. Cal is at least more plausible but it's tough on OOS admissions. Apply to some other schools as well if you want to make sure you're not at UIUC next year.

oooh alright then thanks alot.. last semester my grade was a 3.8 bfore the final until I screwed up on my music final exam and got a B+ in it... any way.. since this term I am taking all the core subjects which I am actually good in.. so I have chance of getting more than 3.8.. thanks alot for all your comments! but I dont want to transfer to anywhere else ranked lower than UIUC in engineering (4th).. soo I will probably stay here if I dont get into those schools mentioned.

Good idea iwotic...remember that if you dont go to a highly ranked school you wont be successful in life. Any downgrade now will mean a downgrade in your future.

lol laxattack. or maybe, if you're already at a great engineering school, there's no reason to downgrade if you're happy there. I think you've got the right idea iwotic and it's good to know the odds at the schools you are considering.

I dont wanna sound mean, but with your gpa, i wouldnt even try applying to UCberk considering your an out of state applicant. Your essay will probably not even be looked at.

oooh.. thanks then.. I get to know my self... by the way.. if I can pull my cumulative gpa to a 3.8 and also I didnt mention, I am cal residence, will that help with my chance?

in order to get priority, you would need to be transfering in from a ccc regardless if you are considered a CA resident or not, especially in an impacted major. I suggest just using this time to pull up your GPA as much as possible for next year.

yea, community college students still get priority and the majority of those accepted come from california community colleges.

Also, you lose your california residency (priority) when you move out of state and go to a different state school lol.

take it easssaaaayyy..

isnt that a song?
