Any chance of getting into my reach schools?

I just got my second SAT scores back and I didn't do too well, so I'm a little stressed about my chances of getting into my reach schools since my SAT's didn't go up. I'm a good student, but I'm not the best at taking standardized tests.

My Credentials:
Unweighted GPA: 95.74 (4.0)
Weighted GPA: 121.8
Class Rank: Top 10%
SAT: 1770 (Math: 600 - Writing: 600 - Critical Reading: 570)
I go to one of the top public schools in my state.

EC's: Soccer, XC, softball, alpine ski team, trumpet, bookclub, outing club, NHS, Cape Coalition (volunteer group - special olympics, ect), Senior to Senior (volunteering at nursing home), volunteering at Saturday morning soccer, and I've had a job over the summer for the past 4 years.

The schools I'm applying to are:
Reach: Villanova, William and Mary, B.C., and Emory
50/50: Kenyon, Davidson, Union, Holy Cross
Safety: Stonehill, Susquehanna, Mary Washington, Providence

Are my reaches realistic?? Thanks for helping!!

Suggest looking at the Admissions Selectivity Rating for schools on the Princeton Review to judge relative difficulty for admissions: ([Test Prep: GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, SAT, ACT, and More](http://www.princetonreview.com/default.aspx?RDN=1))

Villanova 96
William and Mary 98
B.C. 97
Emory 99
Kenyon 97
Davidson 98
Holy Cross 96
Stonehill 93
Susquehanna 86
Mary Washington 85
Providence

Don’t you have this question on another forum?

The problem is that you have too many reaches, a couple of reachy/matches, and no safeties. If money is going to be an issue, I suggest that you have 3 financial safeties.

I’m pretty astounded that you put Davidson as a 50/50. Davidson is more selective than Villanova, and at least as selective as the other colleges you mentioned as reaches.

^ Kenyon is the same.

Kenyon is a tough admit for anyone without at least a 650 on the CR. My daughter was waitlisted at Kenyon (and W&M) with much higher test scores, a similar unweighted GPA and strong ECs/recommendations/essay. Are you a male? This might help at W&M as female OOS applicants seriously outnumber male OOS applicants. Not sure that would help much at Kenyon, however. Re: Davidson, I agree with BigBlue that Davidson is a reach.

One of the problems that “poor test takers” with great GPA’s have is that colleges know that many things go into getting good grades in HS in addition to very hard work and smarts, including popularity, extra credit opportunities, and choosing to take teachers who grade on a curve. Thats why colleges require standardized test.

Your problem as has been outlined above, is that you have too many reaches, your matches are more reaches, and you have no safeties.

Who knows what will happen to any individual application but your stats say to add safeties. I agree that Davidson would be a huge reach.

You need more safeties.

and if money is an issue, then you need FINANCIAL safeties!!!
