Any chance RD?

I know I've posted here before, but I've raised my SATs and have a more concrete idea of my class rank.

Since nobody gives me any relevant answers in the "What are My Chances?" forum...

Canadian Male, applying in year 2 of CEGEP (pre-university, post-high school system exclusive to Quebec).
GPA: Nice upward trend, currently cumulative at 89% UW, and will probably be even higher by the RD round.
Course load: 5/6 honours this semester, 11/14 honours last year.
Class rank: 9 out of 76 in small honours program within large public, top 6% overall in school.
SAT I: 800 CR/760M/710W
SAT II: Range of about 730-770 on Math IIC, 720-760 on Literature.

ECs: Newspaper Editor and writer (4 yrs.), Lit. Journal Editor (3 yrs.), Battle of Bands Organizer (2 yrs.), Intercity Hockey Asst. Coach (2 yrs.), bass and guitar (5 yrs), Quiz Team (2 yrs.)

Awards: Public Speaking Finalist, English Valedictorian nominee.

Recs are superb, essays are pretty darned good (according to friends, teachers and GC).

I don't know much about admissions or anything, but based on the information I do know and have seen here on this site, these are my comments:

-Your GPA is probably going to be on the low side of most applicants, but is in no way bad. Anyway, as you said, you could raise it to an unweighted A-. Don't worry about it though, I think it is fine.

-I don't know if being from Canada helps.

-Your SAT's are very good. SAT I being a 2270 and SAT II's in the mid-high 700's. As I'm sure you know, those are both very decent.

-Your class rank isn't that extraordinary.

-Your EC's seem more real to me than many other people's on this site. So many people have lists and lists of useless awards that they have seemingly accumualted for the sake of college and not under any personal merits. That makes it all seem somewhat fake. Yours seem to be real and have an underlying subject base of English, as if you're actually into the subject and not just having minute awards from every subject from Chemistry to Psychology. Regardless of all of the positivie above, your EC's will look weak to most.

That is just my knowledge for you, don't take it too seriously.

I really like your ECs. Most people have loads of ECs, but they're meaningless. They join every single club, and not commit themselves. My ECs are like yours.. I moved around a lot, so I don't have a lot of school activities, or academic awards, but I have the stuff I love to do, and so I follow that passion.

As long as you present yourself right with your ECs, I think you have a very good shot.
