Any chance whatsoever?

Interested in History, French, Philosophy, and English (especially Creative Writing), and I've taken all the highest level/AP Classes in those areas and always get B+ or higher (the only B+ have been in AP History, everything else has been A- or higher for those). Math and science, not so much, I have B-A in my science classes (one CP) and one C, two C+, and a B- in my highest level math classes (taking a CP next year).

Next year I'm taking AP French, AP US Government, and AP English. My school has block scheduling, so the fact that I'm taking 5 APs over the course of High School is really really impressive for our school, since it's impossible to take as many as other people do at their schools.

I also expect my recommendations to be strong (one from my Creative Writing teacher/Literary Magazine guy, and one from the French Immersion teacher who has known me since I was 5).

Writing my essay on how reading with my dad when I was younger has influenced the way I think, and has made me want to become a writer to help give other people the same feeling I get when I read something beautiful, etc, etc.

Any chance? I know my rank is low, but that would be due to the fact that my grade in particular is uncommonly strong. My rank would be much higher if I were one year older or younger. Also, I'm not a math kid. C'est la vie.

pretty good chances, i know a girl at my school who's the val but none of her other stats compare to yours. her sister had about the same stats she did and got in, and this one is also convinced she can get in. so i definitely you have a great shot, and contact their tennis coach to give yourself a hook

class rank will hurt. Top 10% is pretty standard.

The SAT is pretty good, but rank will definitely hurt you. I know several who were in the top 2-3% of their hs class with similar SATs (better math and worse verbal) who were rejected at Williams. To the extent you could be recruited for tennis, it could be different story.

Who of us really knows? You're in that big pool of "qualified" applicants. You have some things going for you. You have some things going against you. We don't see your essays, your recommendations, or how you actually present yourself on your application. We don't know whether this is a year when there will be tons of students with profiles that look much like yours, or a year in which something about you stands out in a very positive way.

Do your best. Pick good recommenders. Work on getting that math SAT up. Put a lot of thought into your essays. Research the college, visit, assess your fit, and know your audience. Polish your application. Have it ready early and then go back and improve it.

Pick out your other schools. Get those applications ready to go, too, in case ED doesn't work. Try to fall in love with all your schools, not just Williams.

Good luck.

Thank! aaaand a bump!

Right on target, Grace. Great post!
