any chance?

first off.. im a junior. so i still have some time to improve so im not really stressed. but i just want some feedback so ill know if theres something that you think i need to work on. currently i attend wheeler high school (magnet program which focuses on math and science)

SAT I : 700 writing 700 math 700 verbal/reading
SAT II: Currently havent taken any yet but im planning on taking Chemistry, Spanish, and perhaps Math 2c

4.2 weighted

AP: Again i havent taken any tests yet. But that will change after this year.

2nd sem: AP Calc BC, Web Page Design, AP US History/H. Am LIt, Chemical ENgineering

Senior Year: Not sure exactly but i know what im taking:

Jobs: Kumon (Math and Reading centers), Summer tennis camp teaching

By the way, does it look any better on an application that i was in a magnet program?

I'm a junior attending a magnet school, as well. I'm not sure how good/better it would look for an applicant to be in a certain type of school. ;[

yeah. in 8th grade when they (this magnet school) were going around to the middle schools to talk about it, they made it seem like having a magnet seal on your transcript would get you into any college. i didnt believe them but i decided to apply anyway because they offer classes that normal high schools dont offer.

Most people who are competitive for Columbia will be in magnet-type programs. It doesn't help that you attend a magnet school, any more than it would help you to take the most challenging program available at your high school.

Hahahahahahaha I used to work at Kumon.

yeah. its not the best place to work. especially if the teachers are b****es.

definitely take math II if you're already in AP Calc. It only goes up to trig or so, precalc max. And it looks a heck of a lot better than level I.

The 3.5 unweighted GPA might be a bit of a concern, though...depending on how your school weights.

At mine, it's almost impossible to get up a 4.2 if you have less than a perfect 4.0 unweighted. Valedictorians get 4.3ish with 9 or so APs, pretty much the maxed out number of APs you can fit into 4 years of high school.
