Any Chance? :?

So, like most of you on here, I am going to apply to Yale. I know that shouldn't put my hopes up, but is there even a chance for me, or should I just forget about it?
Here are my stats:
I have a 3.93 unweighted and 5.9-6.0 ish weighted; my ACT score is a 30 (I know it's low, I'm retaking in November), and I'm going to take SAT Subject Tests Literature, U.S. History, and Math Level 2.
My extracurriculars are as follows: Writing Club, FEA, Religious Diversity, NSH Club, Best Buddies, Anime Club, Latin Honors Club, Spanish Honors Club, Beta Club, Newspaper Club, Seminary (4 years), Beta Delta Sigma Math Club, Student Ambassadors, Science Club, International Club, History Club, Flvs Yearbook, Rho Kappa, Flvs Peer Tutors, Fine Arts Club, Spirit Club, and Creative Writing Club (Flvs). I have held a few official positions (mainly secretary), and I have volunteered for over 200+ hours-Soup Kitchens, public libraries, helping the mentally challenged, and the Humane Society. (I have also taken care of crippled animals for the last six years.) Also, I have spent over 300+ hours volunteering at church and I have held a few presidential and "vp equivalent" positions there, if that matters at all. I have taken piano (currently still) and I have a writing portfolio available for sending. My classes are:

(there are more, but I cannot remember at the moment!)

I'm fluent in English (obviously) and pretty good at Latin. I would like to join the Newspaper "club" in whatever college I get into, or go into something that will help boost my writing skills. I like to ballroom dance (and I am interested in picking up ballet again), and I can play the piano well. My recommendations will be excellent and I will have four or five available.

Colleges I'm applying to: University of Florida, College of William and Mary, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Vanderbilt, and maybe Brown.

Oh! I am a Hispanic/Native American female who lives in Fl, if I get any points for that. ^^'

I just want to know if I will be wasting money or not...

Good idea to retake the ACT. Why are you also planning to take Subject tests, do some of your schools require the ACT and Subject tests?

See the Hispanic Students forum (College Admissions, Specialty Topics), particularly the Resources sticky thread.

You have a good chance, and a 30 isn’t really that low for a URM.

@harvardbound, how can you comment about someone’s urm status when you have confidence in your own? You simply lack self esteem.

^This makes no sense. I have “confidence” in my own, and it’s a simple fact that because these schools are liberal, being a URM helps.

I meant no confidence. If you are so sure that it gives you a boost then why do you need to ask for the opinions of others?

Someone may be more knowledgable on the school’s specific quotas for diversity.

Schools aren’t legally allowed to have quotas like that.

…I’m just gonna lurk on this page.

Not necessarily a quota, per se, but the desire to express an accomplishment of admitting people from all 50 states. Not many people apply from ND or Idaho or whatever so Harvard or wherever should be more lenient with applicants’ stats as to admit one from an underrepresented state.

@HarvardBoundNY May I ask exactly why you felt the need to point out my minority status? I only entered it because I know there are scholarships offered for minorities. Personally, I have my disagreements with the whole minority status on several levels, but my parents don’t really have the money to pay for me to go to school (they’re also paying for my sister to finish her last year of college).

~Back to the original question. Do I have a likely chance or should I give up on Yale? Columbia, Brown, and Princeton have sent me loads of stuff, so I might change my application from Yale to either Columbia or Brown. Either way, I would like to know if I am qualified enough. :)

Not at Y.

10 char

Being a minority is a huge help in admissions, obviously.
