You have a shot. Big ding being from Southern California... that's where I'm from, and it's super competitive. Unweighted GPA could be better.

IB is good. Tennis is good (recruiting possible?). Major is eh (psych is so blase for college apps). Cool research, Intel is good.

It's good to see you've done stuff other than academics (sports). Your interviews and essays are important. I'd say going forward, try to tell a story about "who you are"-- standing out and being really interesting will help your admission much more than SATs.

Your GPA and SAT scores are below average for the Dartmouth applicant, but you seem to have other things going for you, such as your ECs, activities, research, interview, etc. These could possibly get you in if they are impressed enough. Good luck.

u have good EC, but have u thought how tough dartmouth is going to be? if i were u, i'd think more about how i will fit in at the school. What i am trying 2 say is, yes it'll definitely the opportunity of a lifetime to go to D, but consistently ending on the bottom 25% of the class is going to be very discouraging & depressing

i don't think he'd do poorly at all. i'm pretty sure he has looked at how he would fit in at dartmouth and to me it seems that sam is both smart and motivated. assertions that he wouldn't do well aren't the way to go in my opinion. then again, i am a bleeding heart.

Scores are definitely too low...( SATs and ACT ) and the ECs are generic unless you have some substantial documentation....Way below average for a competitive Asian in everything, especially coming from South California... I say...forget it..

You guys really think he has a chance?
South Asian from SoCal with a 3.6 and SATs in the mid 600s?

His critical reading and math SATs are well below the 25th percentile at Dartmouth (670 and 680 respectively). I think he would have to have something AMAZING to overcome that (i.e. recruited athlete)
