Any chance?

U of R is my reach school and i was just wondering if it worth my time to even apply even though i already did. My intended major is chemistry and i was born in Rochester and i know the reputation it has in the research department. I plan on doing medicine and overall Rochester is a good school for my intended major, so just wondering if i have a chance with sub par stats.

High School GPA: 3.68
Rank: 91/221 (#1 school in our area)
SAT I: Math-680 Critical Reading-500 Writing-510
SAT II: Chemistry-680
EC:
Vice president of volunteering services at religious center
3 years tennis
2 years track and field
history club
60 hrs hospital Volunteering
Service club

Your high school GPA is not bad, and your EC's I think were more impressive than mine. I would say you have a good shot. Good luck!

i think the thing that really killed me was my SAT scores, but is it enough to get in or is there some cut off?

There's no cutoff, but I don't know how they'll affect you. Have you considered taking the ACT? You still have time.

i did take the ACT and i hated the exam and i also got a 24 on it so i dont plan on sending it in or retaking

I do think that Rochester is one of those schools that weight standardized scores more than others. Your scores do come a bit below average, but I dont think it would be a deciding factor. Well, can't change anything now!

how much does my father working at the research institute of U of R years ago, help my chances?
