I would say you have a decent chance at getting accepted. You have a good ACT score, volunteer hours, and leadership experience. Those are good qualities in an application. Not that you have a bad GPA by any means, but just keep working hard. I don’t know if it is harder to get accepted since you are out of state.

actually, it looks like I have a 4.02 GPA (including my 9th grade grades which might not count because 9th grade was at a middle school) or a 4.1 (just 10th and 11th grade grades) when I recalculated it according to their system (i think…). where does that put me?!
thanks,

@navarre1 OP is in bottom 25% of scores. ACT is barely in the middle 50%, and SAT is 90 points below. if he were in-state OP wouldn’t even qualify for BF.

I thought the 100% BF only required a 28 ACT? If he were in-state, he would at least qualify for 75% BF unless I’m not seeing something that you’re seeing.

ITG, the OP’s ACT of 29 is at the lower end of the middle half (25%-75%), but nowhere near the “bottom of the 25th percentile”. The OP’s ACT is competitive.

If the weighted GPA is 4.0 or above, chances are good as long as the rest of their profile is what they’re looking for. His GPA at 4.0-4.1 is slightly below the middle half, but very competitive in light of the fact that 85% of applicants with 4.0 or higher were admitted in 2009.

IntangibleGator, you are always the pompous one in threads so come down off your high horse and have some humility. You may have for once shocker been wrong. Deal with it.

OP, I just want to say that listing the 50 community services hours is pretty irrelevant in Florida. While a great EC, students in FL are required to have AT LEAST 75 to qualify for BF full. So, in comparison to a majority of students applying to UF that’s not too remarkable. Your leadership is great but I’d either bump up the CS or just not emphasize it very much.
You have as good a chance as everyone else.

The big variable that is important to UF…and nobody has mentioned…is difficulty of schedule. If you have 5 or more AP classes by graduation, I’d say your chances are greatly improved. If you only have a couple, I’d say your chances are greatly diminished.

if they look at your transcipt and see that you took sociology when other candidates took pottery, you have a leg up. its quantified by the measurement of academic courses taken, shown on their admissions profile page.
