Your ECs and awards are slanted toward math, which works well to your advantage if you plan on majoring in math and/or convey a strong passion for math in your essays. Yet, you only got 720 on IC and 780 on IIC. Your awards and participation on math EC clearly show that you are interested in math and are among the math elite on a certain level; top sophomore math student, top junior math student, and math team award show that this level is that of your school, which is dandy, but Yale wants elite students at state and national levels. Being your school's best math student is great, but only having a 720 and 780 to show for it on standardized testing reflect that you are not, however, among the nation's elite in math; those should be 800s. Numbers may lie, you can argue, but they do leave an impression.

Lol, thank you for the extensive reply Pessimist. How d'you like Cornell? I have an older brother who's currently a senior there. Anyways, I actually plan to go into medicine. Maybe I should have stated that in my first post. I apologize. I just believe that a good core knowledge in math is necessary regardless of where you go. I'm not talking about the mathematical subject material, I'm talking about the logical way in which math forces your mind to think. I see math as a sort of workout, a training and conditioning sessions for you brain. Anyways, I thought my EC's were slanted towards sports, not math, but I guess everybody has their own opinion. Thanks once again for the post. Anybody else?

you went to all these Harvard programs...and ur applying to Yale?!?!? lol. just for that u get -10 points ^~ jkjk :D anyway, a 780 in math isn't bad! 0o Pessimist is such a pessimist -_-; resume looks pretty good, but not 2 much that stands OUT. just as long as u present urself well enough and ur essays are stellar i think u have a good chance! ^^

It just looks like your stats are full of math and sports, and sports don't stand out as much. And a 780 on IIC is the dumbest reason I've heard of for rejecting someone.

And - correct me if I'm wrong - but it looks like the OP lives near Cambridge, since s/he's gone to so many Harvard/MIT tournaments.

Lol, no not you theoneo, you've posted quite a bit. I was sort of making a general statement to all the member of CC. Anyways, what's a shoo-in?

Thanks... yeah I love those sports, but definitely my top choice would have to be the downhill ski racing... that was the *****. But thank you Business_Freak.

Oh I see, thanks theoneo. And Business_Freak... lol I would try to get recruited for at least one of those sports, preferablly ski racing, but I don't know how, lol.
