I know USC isn’t a UC but still curious Thanks and will chance back!
I think you have alright chances. I applied this past year as an EE major as well and had similar stats as you. I also had a 4.0ish UC GPA; my sat however was 2130. I’m indian as well btw. I had alright EC’s… I was the treasurer of a cinema club, volunteered at a hospital, and did a dodgy little marketing internship. I applied to the exact same schools you’ve listed (did not apply to sc, merced, and riverside). The only UC I initially got into was UCSB… I was wait listed at Irvine, SD, and Davis. I got into Davis off the waitlist, and I am going there this fall. I got rejected from the other 2 waitlists.
I got rejected from USC as well and my sister went there so I have a half legacy, so I don’t think your chances are too great there.
I think you’ll get into UCSB, Irvine, Davis, and possible SD… and the rest are iffy. The reason I say you can get into all these schools is because your class rank isn’t too bad. I went to a pretty competitive high school and my GPA put me at around the 75th percentile… and the UC’s care a lot about rankings so that was a huge negative for me.
@iamjack I am scared of you saying you got rejected to that many of the Uc’s with those numbers I was thinking my UC gpa was 4.0 ish with a 2050 i could get into a mid-tier UC do you think me applying as an economics major would give me a higher chance than you since EE is much more competetive(I think)
@iamjack I think my course rigor should make up for the low GPA at least for USC I hope… And I think EE is one of the easier engineering majors at UC schools… At UCI I know CSE has had a 100% acceptance rate for a while not sure why… just curious what did you write your essays about? I might apply CSE at UCI, since I think USC,UCI, and UCSD are my top 3 UC schools.
i will have a total of 11 UC weighted honors/AP’s from 10th -12th grade @iamjack so with a 4.0 UC gpa and 2050 SAT with a hopefully SLIGHTLY above average essay what UC’s do you think i have a chance for ECOn
@BucketsUCSC At my school we do not have honors courses, so I am not sure the UCs weight honors courses as added “too much rigor” since not all schools have them. How many AP classes you take though, definitely plays a factor. I think you should be fine for an Econ major, even though Econ is a quite popular major.
Wait UCSB a match for Econ?Oh my god how hard have UC’s become wat about UCI, UCD or SLO,?@lLoveCSE UC’s view course rigor based of total number of UC weighted honors/AP’s these are courses such as pre calc honors chem honors and spanish 3 honors so I’ll have 8 Ap’s plus the UC weighted honors i mentioned, i dont mean every and any type of honors there are also honors at my school that dont count such as Biology honors, English Honors, Algebra 2 honors, and Anatomy honors
My essay was cliche so that wasn’t good either. I just talked about going to a village in India and helping them improve things influenced me to engineering.
@ILoveCSE well I got rejected from Irvine so it’s not 100%.
@BucketsUCSC most uc’s let you apply to a backup major so apply EE as your primary and Econ as your backup. Only Berkeley does not let you apply with a backup major.
CSE at Irvine is very competitive. I think you have a shot at UCSD but may not be in the CSE major.
Also last year, jack may not had good result because of the budget issue. This year there will be less people going into waitlist.
@BucketsUCSC and no, UC’s dont have to check ELC to find out your rankings. Your SSR (which your school sends to EVERY university) includes your class rank or decile.
