Essays: Did not start writing yet. But according to my A.P. Composition grade, I would say it would be not excellent, but decent or so so.

In AP Chem class, I was a top rank student who had the highest average among his students (almost 100). My AP Composition teacher has known me for two years thus knows me very well since I came to America.

Reflection:
Strengths: recommendation, passion in chemistry, interest in a variety of disciplines (even though i tend to have lower grade in english and social studies than math and science because of language barrier), grades (depending on the standard), SAT II
Weaknesses: SAT I (especially reading and writing), essays, work/intern experience, extracurricular activities (such as community service)

with that income bracket you're competitive...

15k!? how do you live???

Budgeting

and under the table jobs.

it's because only i live in america and my parents are in korea. but can you consider my chance without my family income?

Annyung? If I may....
-We are not URM, but ORM
-Start writing those essays, now. There are some kids in my neighborhood who's been writing Cornell Supplemental for over a year. It's never too early to start writing them.
(If you are looking ED, you might just die to meet the deadline, so I don't recommend it.)
-Income-> 15K per month for yourself? Homestaying nowadays usually go from 10grand to 20 grand a year, so that seems accurate...but even at that, your family income status looks suspiciously low.

*Meet the general Cornell SAT percentile (Math+ CR=1500)
*Do some community service (Some West Coast Hakwon say 500~800 is favorable, some East Coast Hakwon say 100~300 is favorable, I don't even know how you can get over 300 without having ripped off some from church, but you get the point. Most Korean kids do about 200 hrs in my area.)
*Become officer in clubs (membership doesn't tell much)
*Don't lose your head and decide to go back to Korea and join the army, or go to the Univ. McDonald and flip burgers.

*Good Luck!
