Any chances?

1320 SAT 710 M 610 V
3.83 UW Gpa
4.3 Weighted GPA

Officer in 4 clubs. Spanish Club, Key Club, Volunteer at the Mosque, National Honor society, Camp Counselor, Youth Group at Mosque where I am team leader, Volunteer Corp at Mosque where I am head of student body and I have 800+ hours over four years . National Honor Roll, Georgia Merit winner, Region winner for Mock Trial Journalism Contest, SUMMA ISTAR (Cum Laude) for AKEB Institution. All IB Courses in junior and senior year.

What do you think my chances are?

honestly, not much. low sat and pretty low gpa for harvard.. none of your ec's stand out. btw, national honor roll.. is a joke. it's not something to put on an app. i've done it too.. it's worthless.

Your SAT is very, very low for HARVARD. But that's not your question. The answer is yes, the chance is there that you will be accepted, only that the chance is really small. However, I disagree with harvardhopeful05 in that I notice your heavy involvement at the Mosque. This brings a new perspective to the university where diversity is the key. I encourage you to harp on this singular point, make the best of your essays, and perhaps get a letter of recommendation from your religious leader (please excuse my ignorance).

ZZ3

P.S. please evaluate my chances which are in both the "Princeton" and "What are my chances?" forums

Thanks Valdez, I actually wrote my Essays and Common App Short Answer about my involvement with Mosque, I think I will get an LOR from the leader. thanks for the idea, i didnt think it wuld matter much, I guess it will.

The way I look at it, everyone has a chance, but some people have better chances. I have virtually no chance, nor do you or practically anybody. Things are so competitive these days that no one really has much of a shot. I'm not trying to get your hopes down, but you, nor anybody, should get them up in the first place. Best of luck to ya.

Thanks for the feedback, and you are rgiht, things are very competitive these days

well, that said i think that in these times one needs to be careful about religious/political views. so it might be wise to be aware of it and make the necessary caveats.

What do you mean? could you elaborate please

even though ure sat scores are low, u do stand a chance. write good essays and do well and the interview. Cant u take the sat again?

plz check me out (what are my chances>foreign student applyiing to ivy schools)

I'd say a solid 10% chance

10% eh? How did you come up with that? Doesnt Harvard accept 8% of their applicants?

nah they accept about 10%, and for early admissions i believe it's a tad higher. I think 1,000 out of 7,500 got in last year for early.

its 10% not 8. imagine it were 8%... 1 person out of more than 12§!!

So is it Yale that accepts 8%? I hear Harvard's curriculum isn't that heard, its just hard to get in
