1 from counselor
essay: (yes i did procrastinate a LOT)
is about a writing contest i got 2nd place on when i was in 6th grade. it starts off as a misconception about essays, delves into me in the process on writing the essay. goes into the psychological aspect, deep into my mind, and how i wrote it, analyzing every curve, (yes i also write in cursive) anyways....then it goes into me winning 2nd place, and the intense imagery of walking up to the stage.....how the people mocked my seriousness into the competition....essays importance to me...epiphany --> realizing the essay depicted my interest in biology...and ends off with the essay re-creating me....
my chances???
i think bout 15% cuz the interview went pretty well.....

oh yeah…my school considers an A+ in an AP class the same as an A+ in honors class…

That SAT might hurt you.

I guess everyone has a chance, but I think it is a high reach, especially because of the SATs being on the lower side. It doesn’t seem like your ECs really have any centralized theme either, so I am not completely sure. Might as well give it a shot.

yeah…not too happy bout my sat score…well my ECs… i have been doing math league and science olympiad for 4 yrs…and am also involved in cultural groups…but to some groups i was nominated to (mentor program) and one of them started in my senior year…so i mean i know its a reach…

“asian culture awareness club (VP)”
of course an asian would be applying to MIT.
xP
nah, not to be racist, but i just find that funny.
i thnk you’ll have a good shot at any school besides the top like, 4 or 5.
but yeah, that SAT is really going to pummel you.
=[
but you never know.
if your math on the SAT was like, an 800, then that definitely looks better.
good luck!

i think i know u
im not asian but indian…most of the club members r indian,…so i kinda find it funny

Yeah, I mean, if you could get the SATs up, or at least have a 770-800 in math, then there is less of a reach I suppose.

tru…the GPA i gave is unweighted…my school regards an A in AP the same as honors

Can’t you re-take SAT in January?

And just curious: If you re-take SAT in January, you don’t have to contact MIT or anything as long as you list MIT as one of the 4 schools, right? Your application would list the old scores, but they would look at the new scores instead, right?

If you retake the SAT in January, you should write a note to MIT to inform them that scores will be on the way.

They will use the new scores, if they’re better, but the January scores are delivered pretty late in the admissions process, so they need to know that they should look for the new scores.

umm…i cant retake to sat ![]()
and im pretty sure you dont have to contact MIT as long as you list them as a score recipient…but i would still check their website just to be 100% sure

Why can’t you retake SATs?

i mean i’ve already taken it twice…and if i try to take it three times colleges might think that Im just focusing on my Sat scores…and anyways …i think that the deadline is over…so

Isn’t the deadline to register like December 26? And I always thought that 3 times is fine.

I had the same problem…I only got a 2060 on my SATs
(800 Math) so I’m hoping the math score will help me out a bit, but I can’t retake the SATs cause I’m taking SAT IIs in January…so I’ll have to live with what I’ve got. What’s your subscore?

OP your chances of getting into MIT are slim to none. High GPA coming from a public school, as I assume you do, is an expectation when applying to MIT. Besides that you are a member of clubs that anyone can join, have poor SAT’s, and have nothing else that appears to give you an edge. I’m not saying you won’t get into college, just that MIT is a VERY FAR REACH. Good luck though.
