Any change in May 1 deadline for deposit - Please it makes sense??

Has anyone heard if schools will be amending the nationwide May 1 deadline to put a deposit down on your school of choice? Since we all can’t go visit the schools now that we are admitted and Financial Aid could change rapidly in this current economic situation it would be great if schools stepped up and put it off to July 1 (hoping worst behind us). Hoping some school officials will see this!

I sure hope so. Some schools don’t even give decisions until 4/1.

Nothing official, but I just received an email from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology that said the following:

"Currently, colleges and universities ask students to adhere to a nationally recognized May 1st selection date. That date may not make sense this year as many high school students are having significant disruptions due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) closings.

In respect to those actions, we will continue to monitor school closures. Any changes to our May 1 date will be reflective of students’ needs in respect to our national health challenges."

Hopefully a few colleges will decide to extend this deadline and the rest will follow suit!

Search around here on the forums there are some lists of schools moving to June 1. Look in my replies to find the threads

@NJdad07090 thank you I will review that! I also plan on reaching out to the schools we are considering to ask them to do so if they have not already! Appreciate it.

Also consider FIN AID! So many people are losing their jobs, etc. ALL these schools are going to have many students impacted by lack of funds. It would be safe to assume these offices are going to be overwhelmed by people requesting revisions to their merit and FA packages.
