Natigeta, In addition to the tuition and fees costs at any college, you will also have living expenses…housing including utilities such…and food. These need to be added into your total cost of attending college in this country. Depending on your living situation and the location of your school, the cost of room/board can easily add between $5000 and $10,000 a year to your costs of attending college here.

I’m not sure I understand your statement…if your family can only pay $3000 a year for your costs…how is it that they can complete a statement that says they have enough money in the bank to fully fund your college costs here (tuition/room/board/fees/books/TRAVEL)?

college in my country is funded by the government, its free but the education’s quality is very low.even you can hardly find a job after you graduate.

Natigeta, In most cases, scholarships are awarded based on a number of criteria. And in most cases, the most generous scholarships (which apparently you need) require strong stats all around…including SAT scores, grades, class rank, ECs and recommendations. A significant weakness in one area (your SAT scores are really quite low when looking for generous scholarships) will not likely be compensated with by other higher areas on your application.

It would be one thing if your SAT scores were close to being in the range for generous scholarships. But in my experience…those SAT scores could make even admissions iffy.

Have you looked into any of the SAT optional schools? Do any of them have scholarships that are generous enough to fill your bill?

*I have relatives/u.s residents/ in U.S who can be my co-signer.will that help for the loan? *

I think you better get a firm commitment from them. Very few relatives are going to co-sign for $100k+ in loans (and you would need at least $25k/yr in loans). That relative would be responsible for the loans if you didn’t pay. And, simple math would tell your relative that you’d unlikely be able to repay such big loans since the monthly payments would be so large (about $1150 per month).

I am planing to study in US university as an undergraduate international student.
My GPA is 5.0(Tajikistan max is 5.0)
3rd place in international computer project Olympiad…
1st place in national olympiad in informatics and lots of certificates.
(My SAT score is 1220.)
Could u help me to find university which could give me a very good financial aid and scholarships based on my educational background???
Of course I dont asking for full scholarships. I am able to pay from $5000 to $8000 including all expenses.

Sahbir i don’t think SAT score 1220 will take u anywhere. but there are colleges that don’t require SAT score but TOEFL for admission. if you are able to pay the fee you have mentioned contact community colleges like wwcc. [Western Wyoming Community College](http://www.wwcc.wy.edu/)

As long as you can get the money thru a loan, a college **that will accept you **will gladly take that borrowed money.

So, go to that “international student dot com website” It has links to loans for international students.

And, find schools that will accept your SAT score or won’t require the SAT for int’ls.

You may be mistaken into thinking that colleges will loan you $50k for each year. As far as I know, no college will do that. Colleges aren’t banks - student loans come from banks. A few colleges will loan small amounts of money, but not the amounts that you’ll need.

The only thing I can think of to help you is that in Mississippi there are a very fair amount of community colleges which have on campus housing.

Here is an example…

[MGCCC[/url]

Now here is what may or may not be interesting for you…

Even with that ^ it might be more than your family might feel comfortable paying, though. I obviously do not know the rate of currency exchange or anything.

But at least it is something to think of.

If I were you I would go to college in my own country and try to get a job overseas :)

*Sahibr quote: I am planing to study in US university as an undergraduate international student.

If both the OP’s and Sahibr’s individual SAT scores are in the 400s (totalling in the 1200s), and they both insist on being educated in the US, then choosing either a low cost CC or a low cost 4 year is probably the way to go - like UMinn or similar. That way, they won’t have to borrow as much money.

However, the chance of either getting any scholarship money is rare, since SAT will be used for figuring that. I would imagine that most/all schools that let the SAT be optional for int’ls for admission, don’t let it be optional for scholarship consideration.

hello with your stats you probably wont be able to apply to colleges with good financial aid for international students. But you have some options, you can apply to Worcester polytechnic institute, they offer good merit scholarships and need-based aid, they dont require the SAT or ACT, insteed you can use the Flex Path, you need to do your homework, people cant tell you where you to apply, first you need to find a career them find a college. There is a couple of very good college that dont require SAT scores and offer good financial aid but is up to you to find them.
