Hioooo

I hardly see any CNR representation, even at the results threads.
So i was wondering, why'd you guys pick CNR?

I picked it for the smaller classes and the general research opportunities in the Bay.

Hi, alwayswonderines. I’m a third year CNR student. Initially, I picked CNR because I was interested in biology, but didn’t want to pursue the beaten MCB/IB path.

Now that I’m in CNR I have tons more reasons why I like it.

Advising. The major advisers, in my experience, are easy to get in contact with and will pull strings for you to help you get the kind of learning experience you want.

Faculty advising. You’re required to meet with your faculty adviser once a semester. That means if you come in with a declared major, you’re forming a relationship with a professor right off the bat. My faculty adviser is very friendly and approachable, and getting to know him took a lot of the anxiety out of getting to know other professors.

The best couches on campus are in the CNR Student Services Center.

10 pages of free printing a day.

Feel free to PM me with any questions. :)

What is CNR, and why do people on CC never explain the acronyms they use?

Sorry, CNR stands for College of Natural Resources.
[College of Natural Resources - UC Berkeley](Rausser College of Natural Resources, UC Berkeley)

It’s one of the colleges within UC Berkeley, along with the College of Letters and Science (L&S), College of Engineering (CoE), College of Chemistry (CoC), and College of Environmental Design (CED).

I’m in L&S right now and I’m trying to apply to CNR
I’m excited, I’ve heard a lot of awesome stuff about the specialized attention CNR students get in terms of counselors and resources

I applied to microbial biology though I tried to apply to molecular toxicology, but couldn’t cause they closed the major. I mainly applied because of the specialized support and the fact that I won’t be bundled with the MCB kids and stuff. Can any CNR students shed some light on the microbial biology major/the rigor of the college as a whole compared to MCB/IB

@magnificent6 lol i applied to microbial biology too!

Nice I hope we both get in!
