Any college suggestions?

I am an Indian resident and just gave my SAT I. My scores were
Writing-640 Critical Reading-710 Math-740
I got this on my first try but unfortunately i have no time for more tries, since deadlines will go by.

I would really like some names of colleges that will accept me. I play soccer and have a love for the game but I have little proof of my wins as we don't get too many certificates here :/. Also, I like doing theatre but again, no proof of that. And I have a bit of social work. So overall, I have decent SAT-1 scroes and I am mediocre in other areas to put it lightly.

I would like to major in mechanical engineering though petroleum or electrical are also desirable.

Please give some names of colleges that I can get in to.

As an additional last question that's been bothering me a lot, can I hope to get into Cornell(the ivy league one)
with my portfolio?

Thank you!

I am also giving my SAT subject test for math 2 and physics on december 2

Number 1 question for all students: How much can you and your family pay???
This will determine where you need to apply. If you are in need of financial aid, it will limit the number of schools as an International applicant. Also need GPA.

We don’t have a 4 point gpa system here but I place among the first tenth in all my classes. If you look at my grades in eleventh grade and twelfth grade, then you wouldn’t expect me to be a very good student. My school makes grading in the last two years very strict because they want to prepare us for the main exam for Indian students called the “boards” and as such I have scored an overall 77% in eleventh grade and 74% in the first term of twelfth grade. This number is expected to dramatically rise in the final term exams, the “boards”, and i expect to get around 95%.

If that’s any help, please answer.

Additionally, i have relatives living in california and they can pitch in for college education and so tuition shouldn’t be too much of a problem. At least, that’s what I hope.

If you are looking at the UC’s in California, they are $55K/year tuition/room/board. Can your relatives fund this amount each year? Privates will give you some financial aid as an International, but you still need an amount that you can fund, before posters can give you some ideas for schools.

Wow! 55K! Maybe that’s a bit too much or maybe not i’m not too sure. But as a general rule, more the financial aid, the better it is. Around 30-40K would be ideal.

And can someone help with my other question about my profile being good enough for cornell?

There are too many unknowns for us to help you with Cornell. Let’s just say it’s possible given what little we know.

It would be very helpful if you would speak to your family about how much money they can provide you each year BEFORE you apply to colleges because you won’t be able to attend any school you cannot afford. There are a limited number of schools that will provide aid to internationals, unfortunately, and many are listed among these three webpages:
