I'm a tad unsure of what colleges I should be applying to for normal decision, I'm interested in engineering/computer science as evidenced by my course selections. I've applied EA to U of M and I was just wondering if there were any other schools I should apply to just based on their CS programs?

Ideally, I'd wanted one of the big names (MIT, Caltech) but with the limitations of my GPA... What schools would you recommend as being a tad easier to get into or would fit me well? I'm sorry I'm posting this here but I'm really busy as hell senior year and didn't really have a chance to sit down with my counselor to talk all this out. Most of the other things I guess would be secondary, ie location, tuition, etc.

Ga Tech is fifth best overall undergraduate engineering and CS is ranked eighth by USNews. We have wonderful volunteer Co-op . Look at your stats. You should definitely get in.

Another schools I would considered, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Berkeley. For CS only, Brown.

Also, you probably get in Michigan as well. So you should be fine.

Judging from your stats, I believe you should be able to get into Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Berkeley, GATech, or Michigan, all of which would be excellent choices for engineering/CS. MIT and Caltech are probably reaches though.

Georgia Tech doesn’t give good aid to OOS students.

If you need aid (and your family’s income would qualify for good aid), then you need to apply to those kinds of schools, plus some financial safeties.

If the OP is not in the top 10% of his/her graduating class, I think s/he has to bid Berkeley goodbye no matter how high his/her SAT scores are. Berkeley accepts students who were in the top 10% of his/her high school batch.

RML - I wouldn’t say that’s true about Berkeley and rank. My school has 100 students per grade. We usually have 20-something acceptances to Berkeley each year…so obviously, they are willing to go outside the top 10%.

You numbers are quite good. So in addition to U Michigan, OP should look into
Safeties:
Case Western and Stony Brook
Matches:
Rochester, Brandeis, Rice (high match?), GTech, and Wisconsin.
reaches:
CMU, Cornell, John Hopkins, and Brown
