Any colleges still taking applications for Fall 2012?

Admissions decisions didn't turn out so well for a colleague of mine :(

Any options to apply elsewhere or is it too late?

forgot to mention she’s interested in pre-vet…

I looked this up a couple of years ago. At that time, the University of Arizona and the University of Alaska had late application deadlines.

How about an LAC with the proper amount of science classes. See this from Roanoke College in Virgnia re: vet programs. They are still accepting applications.

[Preparing for Veterinarian Medicine Programs - Roanoke College - Salem, Virginia](http://roanoke.edu/Academics/Academic_Departments/Dual-Engineering_Program/Health_Professions_Advisory_Group/Careers_in_Health_Professions/Veterinary_Medicine/Veterinary_School.htm)

There’s a list that comes out every year that has colleges with space available. I think it’s NACAC. Not sure of the exact date it’s released. Some time in April maybe?

Iowa State University

what geographic area, or does it matter?

Ripon College in Ripon Wisconsin. A great undervalued LAC.

University of Alabama, is still accepting kids, I believe.

An ad keeps popping up on this site for Manhattan College and the ad says it’s accepting applications for fall 2012.

Arizona State University? I know that they are taking graduate applications in my field up until June. I think the University of Arizona too because one of my friends applied there over the summer, got in, and was able to attend.

Here is a list of schools that accept the common application. scroll down and look for schools with late deadlines or rollling admissions

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/MemberRequirements.aspx</a></p>

Since time is of the essence, and likely this kid isn’t going to want to waste time on options that won’t work, can you tell us…

1) Any financial restrictions? (aid/merit at this point will be more limited)

2) Any geographical restrictions?

3) You may not know this, but how strong of a student is this? Is this a strong student who was rejected by ivies? Or a modest student rejected by her flagship?

If she has strong stats and wants merit, then try Mississippi State (good vet school) and University of Alabama in Huntsville (still awarding merit).

Is she a National Merit Finalist?

A list will come out (in early May, I think) of schools that still have open spots. You can also find schools that accept applications for next fall as late as July.

There are tons of schools that still accept applications. Many are past the priority deadlines for scholarship/financial aid though.

For example, Kansas State University has strong pre-vet programs. Their priority admission deadline was November 1 and the priority financial aid deadline was March 1, but as long as your admission application file is complete 7 days before school begins (transcripts, test scores submitted), you will receive an admission decision before school begins. First day is August 20.

Unfortunately she just applied to 4 UC California schools, UCSD (rejected), UC Davis (waitlisted), UCSB (rejected), and Merced (got in but doesn’t want to go there). Dad want(ed) her to stay in CA., but is now open to OOS. Probably would be like her to be geographically close to CA if possible.

He said she has a 4.0 W, but I don’t know much else academic wise (test scores, ect). She’s going to a private Catholic HS in orange county, CA. Active in sports. I don’t think financial aid is a must.

Thanks so much for the responses!

U of Arizona/Arizona State have rolling admissions and will still accept applications even though the deadline has passed. I am not sure about UNLV.

Those would be the nearest schools that are OOS and near Orange County.

I can’t remember but if you email the “ask the Dean”-Sally Rubenstein, I believe there is website that show the list of schools that still have openings left to fill each year. It has some official national college name site. I remembered the from last year thinking how every HS counselor should have that link.

Okay, did a quick search and found the article from last year. So they must be releasing a list in May again this year that will have the same.

“The National Association for College Admission Counseling on Wednesday released its annual May list of colleges with space available for the fall.”

http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2011-05-05-college-admissions-summer_n.htm</a></p>

What are her sat/act scores?
With a 4.0 GPA, I’m surprised she didn’t get accepted at one of the other UC colleges. There must be something that is a hole in her application. What would that be?
