Any colleges with block scheduling that give 'hands on' experience?

I know about Colorado College, Northeastern used to do several weeks of classes followed by several weeks as an intern to apply that classroom learning, and also I hear Cornell is doing this.

Are there other colleges doing this?

I think it might be perfect for my soon-to-be-senior D. She's not sure what she wants to do with her life, although she loves to write the first chapter of a lot of plots, and is attracted to chemistry, although has no idea what to do with that.

Cornell College in mount vernon iowa

Evergreen State College. One interdisciplinary class at a time that lasts from 1-3 quarters, and narrative evaluations instead of grades.

OP are you asking about block scheduling only or about block scheduling with internships/coops?

Kettering University

Kettering University

Ebeeeee, I didn't realize there was that distinction.

I really like the sound of the courses that have you actually doing the work in a job setting, like an archeology dig to learn archeology, maybe building some contraption in a job setting (not a lab) as you learn physics principles. Lots of field trips or whatever as you take the course.

Also, has anyone gone thru this kind of courseload and what was your experience? Were you more prepared or less prepared for a subsequent job?

Colorado College (Colorado)
Cornell College (Iowa)
Maharishi University (Iowa)
Tusculum College (Tennessee)
University of Montana Western (a U Sphere Fave)
Prescott College (Arizona)
Quest University Canada (British Columbia)
Evergreen State College (Washington State)
(One Interdisciplinary Program each quarter)
Hofstra University (NY)
(First year only for New College division)

Drexel University ¶ has a coop program which sounds similar to Northeastern.

OP, Northeastern’s program is a little bit different than what you describe: students do co-ops (paid internships) for 6 month intervals (or longer) beginning in the second semester of their sophomore year. However, they do it in a field they’re studying - so they already KNOW what they want to major in. It’s usually a 5-year program since students complete at least two co-ops.

oops, I just realized this is an OLD thread, and OP’s daughter is in college already… Nevermind :)

Looking for colleges which offer block scheduling. Havent gotten anywhere with my own research other than Colorado College and possibly some of the above. Can anyone update what options there are out there? thanks
