Howdy! First post here, so lets see how this goes! I am a high school senior from Illinois and I want to go to a UC school. I applied to most of the campuses, but I really want to go to UCLA, UCSB, or UC Berkeley. I just got rejected by Stanford, so with my confidence shaken I was wondering what kind of a shot I have with these amazing schools!

-Weighted (not UC) GPA: 5.67
-Unweighted GPA: 3.96
-ACT score: 35
-I have taken/will take around 10 AP classes, and so far I have gotten two fives and a four on the tests
-Varsity Scholastic Bowl Player
-Write for my city's newspaper
-Work Experience as a professional tutor
-Pretty good amount of volunteer hours
-President of Latin Club
-Nominated for several state/international leadership conference thingies
-Pretty kick butt essays, if I do say so myself. Haha or at least I hope so.
-National Merit Commended
-Several state Latin awards

If I think of anything else I'll post it, and if someone needs more info to give a proper prediction I'll give that too! Also, assuming if I get into all three, which would you recommend going to? I loved the atmosphere of UCSB so much, but would I be missing out on any academic advantages in I chose that instead of Berkeley or UCLA? Thanks!!

Can you pay for the UC’s? There is no funding for OOS students at the UC’s. Your ACT is good. You can’t assume that you will get into all of the schools you have applied to, especially the top tiers since they are extremely competitive

Thanks for replying! I thankfully do have the funds to attend the UC schools as an out of state student. And I know I should never assume I will get into such competitive schools, it was more of a hypothetical question just in case I end up having to make hard decisions like that.

UCSB: Low Match
UCLA/UCB: Match

I’d say that you’re a near match for Berkeley, match for UCLA and UCSB.

I don’t know how this works, but I’m gonna try to refresh this or something? lol
What the heck does 5.6 mean…? what is honors worth and what is AP worth? The only thing that stands out on your app is the ACT score, which may help you a bit.
oh, right, well honors is 6, AP is 7, and the weighted scale at my school is on a 4.0 scale. Not sure if that matters though because it isn’t in the UC scale, which they calculate themselves. I probably should have instead put my class rank, which is 6 out of 314.
I honestly think you are a Match for all UC’s, maybe a low reach for Berkeley.
Don’t feel too shaken by Stanford, it’s a toss up for everyone!
I would add Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown, maybe UChicago, and Georgetown to your list as you’d have strong chances at all!
chance me?

You are a great applicant with great stats. Your ECs also look very remarkable.
UCSB - Safety
UCLA - Match
UCB - High Match
I think you will most likely get into all of them though. If you get into all three, I think you should choose UCLA or UCB depending on your major and which atmosphere you enjoy more. Good Luck!
Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1726865-dear-fellow-lovelies-please-do-me-the-kind-favor-of-a-chance-for-the-big-names.html#latest
^how incredibly disrespectful that you disrupt someone’s thread by asking to chance you. Ironic that you say you’ll chance back berceuse this is a chance thread in the first place.
I am shamelessly going to revitalize this discussion because ucla decisions come out tomorrow and I need people’s thoughts or I might die of nerves. I already got into UCSB, so that’s nice.
