Is it true that it is very theoretical and doesn’t prepare for work in industry after graduation? I also have heard that CS majors take some CS classes outside of Caltech.
DS17 has friends at Caltech who have confirmed that CS is more theoretical there than elsewhere–more about algorithm design than system design, for example. I have no basis on which to make a statement about preparation for industry work. DS hasn’t heard of them taking CS classes elsewhere, though his friends took a number of college-level CS classes while in HS.
My kid’s batch mates in the CS Program have been interning at Google, Facebook etc. etc. right from their Freshman year. I am guessing these students would be prepared to work in the industry.
Yep, my son is one of those florianCollege mentions.
Thank you @bookworm @florianCollege @Ynotgo
For those who choose Caltech over MIT and Harvey Mudd for CS, what factors influenced your decision?
