Any continuing students selected as finalist for Cal Alum leadership award?

Have you been selected for the scholarship in a previous year? How is the interview like?

For continuing students, the interview is pretty laidback. You can expect the wait to be VERY long. They’re always backed up on interviews. In terms of the questions themselves, they just ask you about your leadership activities and what you’ve been doing at Cal. It’s relaxed and conversational. In my experience, only 1 person interviews you, usually an alumnus.

Thanks for the response. Do you know how selective they are?

I’m not sure, although I have no idea what their criteria is like. I’m a continuing Alumni Scholar and was involved in the Alumni Scholars Association so I think I get brownie points for that. I haven’t had a problem getting it renewed the last two years.

I’m a sophomore and I never had it before but was also selected as a finalist, so my questions are the same as yours! I could really use it, but am sooo nervous about the interview.

just wondering - did some of you get selected to interview THIS year? i am a scholar, too, but an entering junior, and i got an email simply notifying me that i was selected to receive the scholarship - no interview needed.

ps - the interview is very laidback, as everyone else has been saying. i’ve interviewed in the past twice - both with two alums, and it was very conversational-like.

wow bypassed the interview? did u receive it a previous year?

i hope my nervousness won’t overcome me during the conversation.
