My daughter was accepted into the program after doing a walk in at unifieds in Chicago and we are trying to find out a little more about the program. Has anyone had any experiences they would share? Thanks in advance.
My daughter did a precollege summer dance intensive and loved it. Figured I would chime in with what I know but she auditioned for dance and not theatre for Cornish (she had a diverse list of college choices).
Dorms are new and facilities are recently renovated. I can’t speak to the theatre program but it is an arts college with the creative intensity my daughter enjoyed. She met many of the current students in all the arts and was impressed by their talents and collaborative projects between disciplines. Nice location in the city with shuttles to get you around- I felt great about my 15 year old running around. Seattle is also an interesting theatre city as some shows are launched in workshop theatre and 5th Avenue theatre provides student opportunities (not sure Cornish policy on auditioning during college). I did hear it was a good city to build towards equity prior to moving to NYC but I am not an expert on that process.
The moderators might not like this . . . BUT IF THEY’D BRING BACK THE SEPARATE COLLEGE THREAD NOTIFICATIONS (hahaha!) we wouldn’t have to resort to this:

Thanks for the link kksmom5. I did a search and nothing like that showed up. But then again maybe I’m doing it wrong.
@1998parent15 thanks for the info!
@TaylorsmomWI, read that link through to the end. I was actually the last to comment. Wow 3 years ago. Time flies.
Cornish has since then aquired a great performance space and continues to have a solid relationship with Seattle area theaters.
My daughter did not apply to Cornish but has worked with some of the faculty. It is absolutely worth a closer look.
I was briefly a dance major at Cornish 100 years ago, have talented friends who have taught in their theatre program, greatly admired a recent performance by an MT faculty member and student, and love the part of town they’re located in. Based on those limited bits of information I’d consider it well worth looking in to!
I was accepted to Cornish last year! I had the greatest audition experience doing a walk-in at NY Unifieds. My auditor was absolutely lovely and everything was totally personalized. They asked me to send in a play I had written as part of my application, and when they accepted me (in a personalized e-mail!), they mentioned how much they enjoyed reading it. I think I would have been super happy there but I ultimately decided against it because of the distance from home.
Thank you all! It’s definitely still in consideration for my D
