Any CS majors interned for Qualcomm?

Got an offer that I accepted for this following summer and I'd love to hear about some experiences. Was it valuable experience? Were you treated well? Overall rating? etc.

Also, if you’re thinking in your head “why are you asking this AFTER accepting the internship”, well, I already concluded it’s a good enough internship that it’s worth accepting. I’m just excited for it and am looking to hear about some experiences!

Congratulations! I am not a CS majors but am trying to find internships. I totally wish I was in your position right now.

Thanks! I wouldn’t stress too much since it’s still pretty early in the year. Just keep looking, and good luck. What’s your major/year?

Congrats! I got a Qualcomm offer as well, but turned it down. Do you know what you’ll be working on yet?

Qualcomm puts on a fun internship program with neat perks like free surfing lessons, free housing, video contests, and all that. Last year, there were lots of UCLA interns, so that was kind of cool. Also, as long as you do a decent enough job, you have a high chance of getting a solid future intern/full-time offer for the following year.

As for the actual work, YMMV. Certain teams have a better idea of what to do with interns than others and the work ranges from easy bug fixes every day to open-ended projects that build nice-to-have functionality for the team. You’ll see this in a lot of companies, but especially in ones like Qualcomm that are huge and there’s a broad spectrum of teams you could end up on.

I know a few people that work for Qualcomm, some on this very board… what team are you working on? Let me know if you need contacts.

Qualcomm has an extremely high intern to full time conversion rate, which is a big plus.

just curious. what year are you? (the topic starter i mean)

It says UCLA '12 under his name.

Well…that '12 is being generous. I’m a third year, though it will probably wind up taking me until '13 to graduate, haha.

Deuces:I’m not sure about the team yet. I’m not looking for contacts, but thanks for the offer. Just kind of bored and looking to read about some experiences.
