Any CSE majors taking six classes?

My counselor told me to take six classes (five prerequisites and one area study) ... but I'm thinking about dropping my 'study of society' one... I don't want to overload myself :(

Intro/Computer Science: J
Intro/Computer Science:Ja
Perspectives in CSE
Calculus
Study of Society
The Writing Course A

Total: 18 units

But first I'd like to know if any other CSE majors are in the same place as me...

Two seminars and four classes? It shouldn't be too difficult as long as you put in the effort. Four classes is the norm, and two seminars aren't going to kill you.

Hey you're the guy who was telling me how I was gonna get rescinded.. you got balls coming here to give me your advice again.

I do have balls, not enough to talk like a tough guy on the internet, though.

Seriously, you think I care what I said to whom on this message board? I'm just giving my opinion to the question, regardless of the poster.

"I do have balls, not enough to talk like a tough guy on the internet, though."

omg pansy

"Seriously, you think I care what I said to whom on this message board? I'm just giving my opinion to the question, regardless of the poster."

You think I even care what you have say? Might as well **** off and go bother someone else.

Funny you say, "You think I even care what you have say?"

When you're the one who said:

"you got balls coming here to give me your advice again."

I'm kind of sitting here chuckling at you now.

I think 18 units is a reasonable load. Remember, if it's too much, you can always drop your least favorite classes in the first few weeks of the quarter.

Too few courses is better than too many. The feelings of regret for taking one course too many are much larger than the feelings of regret from taking one class too few.

I'm taking four courses and a seminar in CSE. Is Intro to comp sci j/ja cse 8a/8al? I just decided to take cse 11.

Hey snapz I read your other post. no offense, but how did you get a D in physics if you're a cse major?

Aww... you'll be dropping out of the class that you probably would be taking with me!

I'm taking 18 credits first quarter too! ChemE major

doppelganger.. to be perfectly honest that D was due to me being a lazy ass during my first semester. Don't get me wrong though, I really do enjoy physics.

"Too few courses is better than too many. The feelings of regret for taking one course too many are much larger than the feelings of regret from taking one class too few."

Thanks... yeah this is the answer I've been looking for. If I feel I can take on more courses during fall quarter I can just sign up at winter. No need to kill myself during first quarter... I'll looking into which classes to drop.

Hmm...see how it goes for a couple weeks, then drop the class if you feel you won't be able to handle it as well as you thought. 3 classes and 2 seminars seems optimal to me.

That's not that hard of a load. You'll probably get annoyed at seminars though, they don't mean much and are just extra time in your schedule. Perspectives in CSE (cse 91) is the worst semiar you will ever take. I can guarantee you will hate this class and if you go to it, pay close attention to how many people show up.

Warren writing is quite a bit of work as well but easily manageable if you aren't dumb with your time. it takes too much effort for the grade reward though.

the starting cse classes aren't that much work (8 series/11). when you hit cse 12, do not overload your schedule. that class will be the most work you've ever done.

What so they talk about in Perspective in CSE that could make it so bad? And if there aren't that many people to attend the seminar, does it mean that they all fail or what? I'm not too sure on how the pass/fail works for seminars.
