I’m at pierce ha!
It’s not too bad compared to other jc’s. But then again that’s not saying much…

anyone know about the archstone apartments at warner center? are they safe to live at?

and most importantly, how hard is it to transfer to berkeley from pierce as an honors student?

archstone apartments are expensive i’m sure, warner center is a very safe area and close to lots of restaurants, shops, etc.

yeah, man.
find an appartment anywhere in woodland hills, and you’re in good shape.

yeah the archstone apartments are pretty expensive, but im trying to convince my parents to let me live on my own so it needs to be safe and what not

do alot of college students live there?

and whats the “social life” like at pierce? do everyone pretty much do their own thing…i mean i know everyone is just trying to transfer, but the chances of making good friends to chill with on the weekends?

where are you coming from?
if you’re looking for a social life at pierce, you won’t find it.
in my experience, people pretty much come and go.
they’ve got friends with whom they take classes, and they stick to each other.
also, if you’re looking for a social life in the valley, you’ll be sorely disappointed. most people our age who live here have had the same friends since high school and have formed their cliques. as for being able to infiltrate those groups as an outsider, that’s up to your ability to socialize… just don’t expect being at and around Pierce to give you a boost.

also, in woodland hills and surrounding areas, there aren’t many college students. i mean… yeah… there are… but they’re not as concentrated as if you were to live in goleta / IV and attend SBCC (which is what i recommend, if you’ve got the $ and the option). the reason i’ve been so vocal on this forum about living in Isla Vista and attending SBCC is this: 24,000+ people between the ages of ~18-24, all living in 2 square miles of million dollar beach front property. you don’t need a car (<30 minute bus ride to SBCC). you can’t avoid meeting people if you tried. women = great ratio, great looking. most people you’ll go to class with will live within 5 or 6 blocks of you. great transfer rates. better professors (IMO) than Pierce. SBCC’s campus is gorgeous, and literally, right across the street from the beach. really good mexican food. plenty of events: political awareness, various campus clubs, concerts, movie screenings, comedy shows, etc.

however, if you’re set on living in LA, and again, have the $, do it right - live in santa monica / hollywood and go to SMC.

haha sbcc sounds tight but im a freshman at a local community college and i want to go to pierce college cause i can do the honors program in one year whereas at smc i have to do it in two years or something like that. trust me if i could i would go to smc in an instant. thats why im kind of considering living in westwood and commuting to pierce college, but idkk. any advice?

living in westwood and commuting to pierce=DUMB, if you want to sit in traffic for hours go for it but that just seems like a complete waste if you ask me, save gas and your time and live near pierce.

swetnezz…do u go to pierce right now? honors program?

im kind of relying on the pierce honors program to get me into ucla berkeley or usc.

i went to uci for a bit but didnt like it, so now im a freshman at cc that doesnt have a tap.
and pierce allows students to do the honors program in one year, if i could find a “nicer” cc that let me do it in one year i would, but i think pierce is the best option i guess

and im a bio major, **** load of classes to take to get to ucla. ■■■ fo real.

hahahah u guys are talking abt pierce vs valley , i go to mission college lol
well imo mission college is like smooth ummm very small campus and well wat else ,nothing

lol

no, i go to moorpark cc but i work in warner center.

Moorpark college is where its at haha. Im surprised on how many people i meet at moorpark that come from the valley.

yeah i purposely avoided pierce haha it takes me a little longer to get there but well worth it.

Hey, a fellow Misson alum!

I attend Pierce and Valley for a few classes, but finished the majority of my courses at Mission.

Mission was the best, hands down. You take any Bio there? Is Reynolds still around?

yeah i wanted to go to sbcc but did not have a place to stay or afford an apartment in iv. I think two private own apartments tropicana gardens and fountainebleu houses sbcc students. I know a lot of people who want to go to UCSB but couldn’t get in freshman year so they go to SBCC while living in IV which is the next best thing

@justchill

i am in the honors program at pierce college. do you even understand how the honors program works? you said you’re a freshman right now correct? let’s just say theoretically speaking you were to transfer from pierce after only one year of being in the honors program (transferring after only 1 year is possible even without the honors program) that means you would have taken 24 honors units (usually 8 classes; 4 formal honors classes and 5 honors contracted classes) that means when you enter a UC you WILL be considered a jr level transfer and graduate a year earlier than your highschool graduating class. i suggest you just spend the two years at cc unless you plan on double majoring, only then you will graduate at the same time as your high school classmates that are in the same year as you are.

the social life at pierce isn’t that bad imo if you join clubs because pierce college’s clubs tend to collaborate with college clubs. for example pierce filipino club collaborates with CSUN’s fasa and they hold events and parties together. and pierce’s kasa & sociology club does the same.

i really dont know as i am into this engineering major but yea LA mission college FTW! it beats down every other college lol

Does anyone know how to apply for the TAP program at pierce?
