Class of '14. An essay up for grabs. Would like people to grab it and tell me what they think of it. Are you willing to grab?

Finished your essay already?

Dang. I was patting myself on the back for having two paragraphs of my CommonApp one done. :] How many schools do you think you'll apply to, if you don't mind my asking?

I guess the year of the 2014-ers is beginning.

wow. that's crazy. 2014-ers are already up in line. i feel old.

on another note... the first rejection you will get will be the most dissapointing and disheartening thing in this process.... even if it was a school u did'nt really want to go to lol.... prophet i have to say i feel the same :P

Haha, this IS CC. The place where overeager overachievers whose sole purpose in life is to get into a college they can brag about can freak each other out. Makes sense that we're already up in line.

(I'm totally kidding. Sort of.)

;)

I plan on applying to like 15 schools. But I'm starting now because life is gonna get CRAAAAAAAZY for me June onwards...tons and tons of involvement in school and stuff (I'm international)...so I'm getting a headstart on things.

What about you?

You're in the class of '14 and have over 5,000 posts? wow.
I would be happy to read your essay - PM it over.

tetrisfan...I'm an international too, and I'm probably going to end up applying to OVER 15 schools because I'm terrified I won't get financial aid anywhere. I guess I should seriously start too, since for us senior year starts in two weeks (cue loud sentimental squeal here) and not in August-September like in the US.

Hey, how'd you put that winky thingy on top of your post? (Haha, I apologize for the inarticulateness. Not that that's even a word.)

; and then ) ;)

Haha. ; ) - just remove the space.

Which country are you from?

sorry about that.

Good luck!

I'd read it right now, but I'm busy listening to music off Youtube whilst writing stories, and -drumroll- constantly going to the "Latest Posts" page. Lol.

I too have begun to write my essays early - it's kind of nice to have as many things as possible out of the way as early as possible.

PM it to me I'll read it!

;) Cool, thanks.

India. You?

Ah, Youtube. I'm going to hold it responsible for my not doing as well on anything as I probably could if I didn't spend so much time procrastinating on it.

oh good for you internationals, i could barely get enough money to apply to 4 schools....

YouTube and CC are my two top time-killers on the Internet, lol... :D

My parents are Malay and Pakistani, but I've lived in the UK for all my life. So I consider myself British, seeing as I speak and act like a Brit. :)

@Izzy1988: Try and apply for a fee waiver. Don't feel bad about it, I'm going to have to cough up at least a third of my savings to pay for all these stupid application fees... I mean, seriously. It's not like colleges need the money...

Btw, here's a thread that may interest you:

I'm considering applying to some of these as my safeties.

dude, my whole life savings are lik 20k and if i don't get in i'll need them to go to school here

Well, I only have around 4k (in pounds), and my mum, who's single, doesn't earn much either. So we're pretty much in the same boat... :/ It sucks, but oh well. Semper fi. And best of luck with your applications ^^.

P.S. For the record, it's not "dude", lol. I am sorely beginning to regret choosing something like "python" as my username.

oh sorry... i hate being confused to a boy too

python: My list of time-killers would probably include fanfiction and Facebook too, but now that I've found the High School section of CC I think it's going to supplant Facebook. I'm tired of Facebook.

I can't afford application fees either, Izzy. I'm going to need a lot of fee waivers for my schools. And 20k in what currency? If in US currency, that's a lot more than I have, since one US dollar is something like fifty Indian rupees. You can live like UES-ers here on twelve thousand US dollars a year.
