Haha yeah, sporadic writing describes me.

I somehow managed in the SAT essay though. I detested it, but I managed. It was a horrible, horrible experience. Bleh.

Sucks that my parents aren't letting me apply to UChi. No friends/family nearby :(

My sister went to the UChi business school. I had no idea it was so strong in the Humanities until I came to CC.

And my parents don't really know where I'm applying. Fortunately they let me handle the entire process mostly on my own. Unfortunately, though, they're going to make me study law here if I don't get in anywhere. I would make a terrible lawyer. Still. They're cool.

What would you like to do instead of law?

Oh my parents are letting me do whatever the hell I want as long as all my colleges are within a four-hour radius of family/friends. Sometimes, being an Indian has its perks :p

I don't see how being a lawyer's all that bad- you'll earn a lot :). As you can tell, I'm one of those people who likes to pick jobs by salary. I'd like to work in business or finance.

My mum pretty much lets me handle the whole application myself. I can apply anywhere - as long as I'm the one who pays the fee, lol :D. Still, I think she'd rather I stayed closer to home and went to a British university, although I'd much rather go to an American one as they have better FA and so forth. I don't see that there's much point worrying about it till I get accepted to places, though :).

Law school is for people who are boring and ugly and serious. And you, button, are none of those things.

:D

Of course I don't mean that. I just couldn't resist throwing in a quote that i knew. Props if you can get the movie.

Benjamin Button? Not that I've watched it. My friends went to watch it when I was still in my Slumdog Millionaire-worshipping phase and after that I just didn't feel like watching it.

Haha, python, there's nothing bad about law per se - I just don't feel like doing what my dad and brother and grandads and uncles and great-uncles and most of my cousins are doing. Law's practically the family business in my case. I think I'm going to go into the academic field - teaching and research and learning all sorts of useless things like "Colonialism: Similarities between the Indian and South African Fight for Independence" just because it sounds interesting and, you know, being all peniless and snotty and annoying as heck.

Oh no no it's from Legally Blonde. 'Button' is just a weird term of endearment her mother (yes, her mother) uses when she tells her this.

Slumdog-worshipping? I think the movie was kind of over-hyped and over-rated. Good movie, but it was taken a little too over the top for my liking. Kudos to Rahman (or ROOman as they called him at the Golden Globes ;)) though.

It is TOTALLY over-hyped, but I passionately love it anyway. I can't believe it won the Best Script award when the script was so UNBELIEVABLY cheesy. I don't particularly like the book either. Adored it when I saw it...which probably had something to do with my burning desire to marry Dev Patel. Or not. I probably love it apart from that. I think. Maybe.

Ooh, I can't believe I missed that! I loved Legally Blonde! I willingly sat through it twice! (I know that doesn't sound like much, but trust me, for me it is.)

Yeah, the script award startled me as welll.

Haha, not a fan of chick flicks?

No, I am. I've seen Sydney White and loved it....and, um....Mean Girls! I loved that one! And Juno! I love Juno!

See? I like chick flicks.

I guess I haven't watched too many movies? (Whee, I'm uptalking.) I wasn't allowed to watch TV till I was...I'm not sure. Old. Haha.

Are you? A fan of chick flicks, I mean.

I feel guilty that I'm on CC talking about chick flicks when other CCers are going around discovering the cures for incurable diseases and writing novels.

I love Legally Blonde :) Hahah and Mean Girls and Sydney White. hahahah.

Yeah, I'm hoping I at least get deferred...being rejected in December would suck. But it gives me more time to become attached to another school..

My parents don't really care where I apply as long as it's not completely random universities. I mean, they're paying for all the application fees, SAT score sending fees..etc so it's cool that they have certain limits. Like they won't let me apply to Pepperdine just because it's in Malibu you know? Or all 7? 8? Ivy Leagues. It just has to be reasonable..or I just have to be absolutely in love with it or something.

I'm really excited about starting college apps. I can't wait until the 2010 Common App site goes up in July...and all the supplements! I didn't really look at any UChicago ones because they're always different and really unique..

Haha yeah, I LOVE chick flicks! Two Weeks' Notice is my favourite one. And it's about a lawyer too ;).

Yeah, I can't wait till July as well!

Where are you from, Smile?

Wait. Instead of invading this thread which has a completely unrelated title, should we start a Yale 2014 hopefuls thread or something?

YES love the idea of a Yale 2014 thread. Anyone want to start it? It'll be fun getting to know each other and helping each other out come application season..

Chick flicks are the best. My guy friends hate them though..

@tetrisfan--the SOUTH. Arkansas. :) haha you?

Oh please don't start a 2014 thread. It is far too early and its existence would add undue stress to my life.

I'm from the WAY south - India :D.

Smile, take the leap and start the thread if you wish :)

OK. Good point anglophilia. I agree…I have wayy too much going on right now with AP exams coming up. I’m stressed enough as it is. Let’s start one in June-ish? After AP exams and everything is calming down?
We’ll definitely make one by July when the CommonApp and Yale Supplement is up I won’t forget.

Wow. India huh? That’s really cool!

Haha, June it is then.
That’s a paradoxical statement of sorts. The part of India I’m from is anything BUT cool (weather wise). Wow, that was lame.
