I applied Early Decision and was deferred. I still haven't heard a final decision yet.

A while back, I sent my admissions counselor an e-mail stating that I was going to have my new SAT scores and a mid-year transcript sent to them once they became available. I don't know if she made note of that and is waiting to receive those to make a decision or if they just haven't made a decision.

Have any other deferred applicants heard back yet?

Unfortunately I haven’t heard back. I applied with the Personal Application about a week before their earliest deadline. I was deferred and still haven’t heard back.

trying to makes sense of this… is it confirmed that EA deferrals are starting to hear?

Smile1257, I’m confused. If your son appled RD in late November, than he could not have been deferred from EA, as one cannot simultaneously apply EA and RD … was he EA or RD? On the other hand, the EA applicaiton deadline was 11/15, so I’m crossed up here logically.

Just because someone applied RD doesn’t mean Tulane may not take action earlier. They only promise that EA will hear by Dec 15, doesn’t mean they may not act on an RD for whatever reason. I admit it doesn’t make a lot of sense to act on an RD when there are so many EA waiting at that time, but who knows. Might have even just been a mistake on their part that they processed it like an EA, deferred, and now got back to it and admitted.

my son initially made contact with Tulane on Nov. 1. After discussing with his parents and a visit to Tulane, he completed his application over the Thanksgiving holiday and sent completed application to Tulane on Nov. 28. He continued to stay in contact with Tulane admissions and had many letters of recommendations sent to Tulane on his behalf (at least 10) as well as Christmas cards. He scheduled a second visit to Tulane for the 14th of January after a letter of deferral was received on January 3. he updated his ACT scores from a 25 to a 28 in DEC. Tulane received these scores on Jan. 7. GPA is 3.6 from a private high school. Eagle scout, 4 sports, 12 years on key boards and music institute summer school. AP’s and honors.
my son made it extremely clear to Tulane admissions (who he now knows by name) that, if admitted, he would enroll which he already has done. We made the trip to Tulane even though he was accepted a few days before. We visited admissions and thanked them. we then ate a celebration dinner at Arnaud’s restaurant.
