killing me too!!

I was in contact with my admissions counselor today on another subject, but I asked her when we should know. She said letters are to be mailed Friday the 17th.

Thanks KMan nice to know

last year mine was mailed the 17th but that as a thursday last year.

D received an email today:

Greetings from the Admission Committee!

Before you get ahead of yourself, this email does not contain your admission decision. So, catch your breath and let your heart rate return to normal. I just want to give you an update.

Let me begin by telling you it has been a pleasure getting to know you. The time and effort you put into your application was very evident. Thank you for making this round of the application cycle both personally and professionally rewarding.

This year’s group of applicants was incredibly talented in terms of academic achievement, course selection, standardized testing, extracurricular activities, and more. We also received more applications this year than ever before. With that said, the Admission Committee faced a herculean task. We finished reviewing the last application Monday evening. Admission Decision letters are currently being printed and will be mailed later this week.

Students applying Early Action will receive one of three decisions:

Accepted – Your application for admission to the Class of 2011 (which by the way has been officially designated as the “Centennial Class”) has been accepted. You will have until May 1, 2011 to notify us of your intent to enroll at SMU. If you have been awarded a university scholarship, that information will be included in your acceptance packet. Departmental Scholarship Award Letters will be sent later. If you are applying for need-based financial aid, be sure to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as close to February 15 as possible. The FAFSA application is available online at [FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid](http://fafsa.ed.gov). You also need to file the College Scholarship Service CSS/PROFILE® to further assess your financial need for need-based programs. This form can be found at http://profileonline.collegeboard.com.

Deferred – Your application for admission has been deferred. The Admission Committee will reconvene after the first of the year to review your application including any new information you may have provided. Your Admission Decision letter will provide specific information about what you should do if you have continued interest in SMU. Also, I will send additional information and instructions after the New Year to students who have been deferred. Students who are deferred will automatically be added to the Mailing List for the next round of interviews (they will take place in January in southern California or by phone for other areas – Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands). That schedule will go out in a few weeks. If you have had an interview already, there is no need to schedule another.

Denied – Your application for admission has been denied. Given the superior quality of this year’s applicant pool, the Admission Committee felt that your qualifications were not competitive with those of the other applicants. Unfortunately, this is the end of the application process for you for this year. If you are still interested in attending SMU, please let me know. I would be more than happy to forward your name and information to one of our Transfer Counselors who will work with you next year.

Whatever the outcome of your application, it is my sincerest hope that you found the college application process not only enlightening but fun as well.

Many of you will be taking finals in the coming days – good luck!

I wish you joy and peace for the holidays and a Happy New Year.

wow, nice email.

i didnt get that email

same, me either

I asked my admissions counselor and she said that they decisions would be sent before December 31. @allstarndm I didn’t get that particular email that you received, did your specific admissions counselor send it?

I DID get that email so it’s not just a random occurrence

D received the email from her admission counselor

I received the email as well. It’s so annoying that they have made the decisions but we have to wait four or more days to get them…it’s called an online status check, come on SMU…

Gah no email for me…

This is odd. I’m in contact with my SMU admission counselor frequently and I never got the email.
