one more hourish till i get mail haah

My son received his SMU accept packet today. He attends a performing arts high school in Houston and was accepted into the SMU dance program a month ago. Letter today was acceptance into the university. With the letter, he was awarded a Provost Scholarship at $12000 annually. He had a 2210 on SAT with a 800 in CR and 740 in Math. He has taken 5 AP exams and scored a 5 on each one…and 3 SAT Subject Tests with a 800 on Math2, 770 on Chemistry, and 760 on Biology-Moloecular. He plans to double major in Engineering and Dance. Applications also in to OU, Stanford, Columbia, Johns Hopkins and he was already accepted to Arizona and Fordham.

Accepted with Provost Scholarship
3.45 GPA
31 ACT
Best subsections: 35 math 32 english 32 science 27 reading

Accepted into Carroll School of Management at Boston College and deferred from Michigan.

Got in with Provost’s!

Okay the story with Connecticut is this -

Stephanie DuPaul used to be the Dean of BBA Admissions (ran the BBA Scholars program), she got a promotion and became Dean of Undergrad Admissions. Steph’s job was open, so the Asst Dean of BBA Admissions, Jim Bryan, got a promotion to her former job - leaving the Asst Dean of BBA Admissions job open. Hilary moved from an admissions counselor job to Asst Dean of BBA Admissions in November. So we just had a great cycle of promotions, and I can see how that could’ve been confusing!

My son got the big blue envelope with a personalized message similar to sypde24. We live in Houston and received the infamous email. No money which is disappointing.

He was also accepted to Tulane, Alabama Honors with $, LSU Honors with $ and Indiana Kelly School of Business.

We really like SMU but without any assistance it is improbable that he will attend SMU.

Good luck to all.

Well most of the emails I received from SMU were from Stephanie Dupal but just recently on was on my status checker and had noticed a switch, did a little research and discovered that Hilary had moved to the Cox school. I met Stephanie at an information session in my area in late October and she was really nice, so it was comforting to still know my admissions counselor even though I had interviewed with Hilary.

@johnangle - do you know how this may have had an impact on the admissions decisions for CT applicants? I talked to my guidance counselor about it and she said (as I would assume to be correct) that Hilary would have filled Stephanie in on all of the applicants and information she knew, but it DID worry me a little that there was a switch in the middle of the process.

Have all acceptance letters come in a “big blue envelope”??

You’re going through the same thing as people from the North Shore of Chicago and New York - it’ll be fine. Hilary’s new office is about a three minute walk from Stephanie’s office… she’s still around and helping out! Don’t worry!

ok, unless i am dead wrong - these first letters being sent out with these amazing stats being posted by the students are starting to show a pattern on the tcu/smu boards.

i have yet to see one full ride (tcu=chancellors, smu=not sure what its called) posted and i know that at least ONE of the posts here would have received a full ride from one of these schools.

SOOO, i am betting that full rides (a.k.a. upgrades) will come after the first of the year sometime. all of you who applied and got accepted with provost at smu or deans at tcu should be EXTREMELY EXCITED! you worked hard and deserve the best. Congratulations!!!

/\ either my post above is correct, or there are some CRAZY SCARY smart kids out there thinking about things i’m not sure i even want to know about…LOL

no news, but everyone else we know of in the area heard today.

My daughter was accepted today (applied for Engineering). She’s from South Carolina and has an ACT of 33 and an UW GPA of 3.8. She received the Founder’s Scholarship (included with her acceptance letter): $15,000/year. Does anyone know if the Engineering department awards additional departmental scholarships? Thanks!

Just got the package. Provosts scholarship…33 act, 4.0, sr class vp, business professionals president, varsity cheer captain, dance teacher among others.

So is there no opportunity for an upgraded scholarship?? I’m confused lol

Oh and the only one in the school with the most rigorous schedule. ?!? I’m a tad bit upset…

i’m very upset… i live in massachusetts and haven’t heard from SMU yet. two other girls from my school heard today and were accepted… they live in the same town as i do… so why haven’t i heard yet?!?

I just got my big blue envelope! Accepted.
I live in Florida.

I was also accepted! With the provosts scholarship (12k per year) so all in all not too shabby! I live in Dallas and just got mine today

I live in Fort Worth and checked the mail… nothing from SMU… looks like they are giving out letters to the super competitive students who got scholarships! Congratulations you guys!

Whoops… never mind… I got a small envelope… I got deferred =(… Need to give some more information… Congrats again to all the other folks! =)

Got my big blue envelope in the mail today and I’m from Oklahoma. Also got the Provost’s for $12K. SMU is my first choice so I’m really excited!
