I’m from massachusetts and I know a couple of girls who recieved their letters today, but me and my friend (both guys) didnt recieve ours. Does this mean anything?

give it some time smu037… regardless of their decision you WILL get a letter from them no matter what…

Daughter received acceptance today. The letter was nice and personalized, but was silent on scholarship, which I suppose means none is offered?

2050 SAT
97.5 weighted GPA
92 unweighted

So far acceptances have been from:
Baylor ($14.5K annual scholarship)
TCU - said scholarships will be decided by March. None offered in acceptance letter
Trinity - via email today, silent on scholarship. Nothing in the mail yet.
SMU - big blue

Still waiting:
UT Austin
Texas A&M
USC
NTU

I got rejected Yes I am sad because it was my first choice. I had high hopes and when I got the small envelope it crushed me. But IM trying to not let it ruin me, I really hope the other school accept me :(

Hi northtexas!
I saw your posts on this thread. I wanted to reply. :)

Yep … that’s what I’ve been trying to tell you, and basically what I’ve posted on numerous threads on this forum …

If the past is any indicator of the present, both TCU and SMU send out their scholarships in a piecemeal fashion. Just because you got Provost, doesn’t mean you won’t be considered for the other larger scholarships.

If you got nothing in your acceptance packet, in terms of scholarships, it does NOT mean that you won’t be getting something later. (It doesn’t mean that you will, either.)

There are tons of different scholarships at SMU. They all have different names, and they can be used all together to reduce your tuition. They trickled in for my son a few years ago.

Personally, I don’t think it’s any game they’re playing, or any “trick” to lure kids into accepting prior to all the scholarships come in. I believe the reason they trickle in the way they do is that different committees are reviewing kids for different scholarships. And the scholarships are awarded after each individual committee, decides who they want to award their money to. I really think it’s as simple as that. Some of the awards come in even later because those committees want to consider all the kids, not just the early action kids. That’s what I believe – from past experience with my kids. But, I’m not in admissions. I’m not privy to any of those sorts of decisions. It’s just what I happen to believe.

Also, northtexas, you mentioned that the full-tuition scholarships haven’t been awarded yet, despite some of the great stats you’ve seen on this forum. I think I mentioned before – those full-tuition scholarships are simply not going to be awarded at this time. They’re going to come in much later – I think in March. Again, they’re going to want to consider the whole candidate pool, not just the Early Action candidates (that’s my thinking, anyway – it’s a fact that the full-tuitions won’t arrive yet; my thinking as to the reason). I’m pretty sure the President’s Scholars candidates will have to attend a weekend event before those determinations are made – so those full-tuition awards definitely won’t be out before that weekend (in March, maybe?)

Anyway, folks, I want to assure you that all the cards have not yet been played. You may not get any scholarship money at all – or if you already got some, you may or may not get more. One thing is for sure, we all just have to wait and see.

And can I have a show of hands? Who’s grateful for the generosity they’ve been shown so far? I think SMU is amazing! We were very grateful for every little surprise scholarship that arrived in our box several years ago. No amount was too small, as far as we were concerned! :)

Oh. I just looked up the info on the President’s Scholars.

SMU faculty committees select 80 students in February, to interview for the award.

In March, those finalists are invited to campus for interviews.

First week of April, President’s Scholar awards are made. About 20-30 students have been named, historically.

Here’s a link to the page I was looking at: [Where to start - President’s Scholars - SMU](http://smu.edu/ps/Where_to_start.asp)

Good luck to all! :)

congrats for everyone who got in though

^Yeah, I’m sorry you didn’t get in stylebrigade. I know you love SMU.

I just made it to the mailbox, I got in! Their admission packet is by far the cutest.

I just got my acceptance letter!!! I am ecstatic

sorry to be naive but can anyone explain the difference between the provosts scholarship and the “founders’ scholar” scholarship?

@Simplelife… you really seem to know quite a bit about our admissions process haha. They aren’t trying to trick you in to committing, it’s just that not everything had been decided and not all the apps are in. I ended up getting an additional scholarship two weeks after I committed to SMU. Congrats to all of you who got in!

Very excited!

Just wondering, has anyone who was accepted received a scholarship offer LESS than the Provost’s? Because i didn’t get an offer and was wondering if i could still recieve something smaller later on, does anyone know when they usually send out other scholarships? By February? Thanks
