DD accepted today with Presidential Scholarship.

Daughter got deferred or waitlisted- we are totally shocked! SHe has gotten in everywhere else with good $ even. She shed her tears and is like whatever! Providence gave her practically full tuition:). Yeah, it stings. She really liked Marist.

Anyone else get the " we need to see mid term grades" letter?

SHe had 1890 SAT and 3.6 UW GPA…plus other stuff to offer.

Daughter’s got in with Presidential Scholarship…NYMom, that is odd, My D2 would LOVE to have an almost full tuition at Providence. I hope she gets in later, but she probably has a lot of great schools to pick from.

Son got accepted + scholarship as well:)

Hello! anyone else not hear anything on their EA application? and do you know if all apps were mailed whether accepted, declined or deferred? My son has not heard altho other students in his HS have been accepted. scary. Marist is his #1.

My sister just told me that my nephew was rejected and my daughter has not gotten anything from them yet. Weird because we live right across the street from my sister and nephew. My sister was not terribly surprised as nephew did not do very well on SAT’s…my daughter did not do much better than him but she has a better GPA. Well…we shall see what the morning mail brings.

Accepted with scholarship.
Male from Long Island
3.4 unweighted, Ap’s and college credits, 1900 SAT

Jilliebean - Was your nephew rejected or deferred?

What do you guys expect? Marist is among the top 50 toughest schools to get into nationwide. Every year, it gets more and more competitive as our school grows. We just received a mansion and tens of millions as a gift. We have a new building currently being erected. I believe the acceptance rate is around 36% which is very low. It’s pretty common for some people with 3.6+ GPA’s to be rejected…everyone here is very smart.

Thank you Jilliebean for that modicum of hope left for tomorrows mail. I find it odd that residents of the same town would not all receive their letters the same day, but who knows? sleep much tonite???

RedFox11- and humble lol.

Just being honest…I know I wouldn’t have gotten in today if I applied to Marist. In the past 5 ish years alone, the college has gained a ridiculous amount of respect and prestige. We have the Marist Poll which MSNBC uses as well as Fox and other networks, have a partnership with IBM, so we are always among the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation, we have a nationally respected women’s basketball team (if you’re into that), our baseball team just made the NCAA tournament, we just received tens of millions in gifts as well as a huge mansion, and a new building called the Hancock Center which will make the school even better. In the next 50 years, expect Marist to be a University, and be among the Villanova’s and Boston Colleges of the world. Right now we aren’t even far behind as many students could’ve gone to either of those schools.

My son was also accepted with merit $$$.

RedFox11- whoa! no wonder its my sons #1…and i like how you’re so into your college - thats important too- you’re in Junior year? Graduating in '11?

Yes…the college is extremely up and coming. ESPN also has many Marist grads for such a small school. Tell your son congrats!
