Any Econ Majors Choose Their Classes Yet?

I'm having trouble picking courses for my fall schedule! although i went to academic advising.. i dont feel like i know what i am doing. I didn't take my writing subject A placement test yet, so i can't really choose a writing course the first quarter. So far I know i will take MATH 2A! can i see ur schedule? just to get a general idea of what i should take?

When are you taking your placement test? Were you not able to take it in May with everyone else?

I'm majoring in business econ, and since the advisor said that freshmen usually take three courses a quarter, I guess we don't have much say in what we want to take haha. This is my uh.. tentative schedule, because I still need to have an advising session with my honors advisor; duno if that'll change anything.

FALL:
- Math 2A
- Honors Humcore 1A
- Social Science 3A

WINTER:
- Math 2B
- Honors Humcore 1B
- Econ 20A

SPRING:
- Math 4
- Honors Humcore 1C
- Econ 20B

I just referred to the Course Planning Sheet that I got at mini-SPOP during the advising session, with the sample schedules for each major.

that's a pretty standard schedule. Honestly, you can mix up classes however you want, as long as you finish them. I just graduated with my econ major and two minors and in my last quarter, I only took Stu. Art 10c for breadth and my upper div writing.

Just plan accordingly you'll be fine. You could graduate with econ and a management minor in 3 years.

I can help you. I'll sell you my math and econ books! My econ book is still in brand new condition cuz I rarely opened it. I bought my math book used, so it's in whatever condition it was before I got it. =)

^ ooooo I'm interested

while we're on the topic of books, how do we find out what textbooks we'll be using in our classes? it'll be too late to find out the first day of class, especially since most people want to find good deals [online]

You can find some syllabus(-es??) of Econ classes here: <a href="http://eee.uci.edu/classes/index.php?dept_name=Economics%5B/url%5D">http://eee.uci.edu/classes/index.php?dept_name=Economics</a></p>

Some of them list what the required texts are for the course, but I would personally hold off on it until the first day of school. ^_^

Anyway, I'm a business econ major and my tentative schedule for 06-07 is:

Fall: Humcore 1A, Math 2A, Econ 2B
Winter: Humcore 1B, Math 2B, --dunno, help!--
Spring: Humcore 1C, Math 4, --dunno, help!--

Um..yeah, I'm at a loss. .__. Should I take Econ 15A-B this year and get it over with, or follow the advice of my advisor and take it really slow with just Humcore, math, and Econ 2B?
