So I'm unclear on how to withdraw my applications to other schools. Does anyone have any info on that??

I just wrote letters to them saying that I was writing to respectfully withdraw my application for admission to the class of 2010, adding that I'd accepted a position in the freshman class at new york university.

How did u know where to send the letters? Was it just to school or to the office of admissions?
haha I'm retarded at this and I'm afraid i'm going to lose my spot at NYU if i don't figure it out soon.

I just sent it to the office of admissions. I got a letter today from one of the schools confirming my withdrawal so i guess it worked.

haha alright i'll try that- what did u include in ur letter? Like did u put ur SS# on it or anything?

I didn't. I just put my name and address and figured that they could match it up. I don't think putting you social would hurt though.

This sounds like kind of a stupid question but I never actually applied to any other school but I started a lot of applications (through common app and their own). Do i need to notify them of anything or since I technically never submitted a deposit or the actual application I don't need to worry about it? thanks

I did that too in order to avoid paying application fees, etc. I never notified them...they got teacher recs and transcripts from me but I never gave them an application or money or anything. I didn't sent a letter cause they're not going to admit me or anything so I don't see an ethical/moral issue. You could send the letter if you were so inclined though.

i only applied to one other school, i applied to a safety early action, and i didn't bother withdrawing the app after i got accepted to nyu because i knew that by then theyd have already made a decision & would be sending it out soon. i recently got the letter of acceptence, does anyone know it that matters? do i need to inform the school or anything that im not going?

Yes, you do.

I got an acceptance letter from Ohio State University and I called them and told them.
