Any engineering majors accepted into UCSD yet?

I'm a mech. engineer transfer student waiting to hear back from UCSD. I haven't decided if they are my 1st pick yet or not, but just wondering if anyone has been accepted in there?

If so, what branch of engineering did you apply for, what was your GPA and did you finish all your pre-requisites?

Eagerly wanting to know if my 3.43 GPA is good enough to get me into UCSD for mech engineering,
Ogi

Someone posted around the first round of admits that they were admitted to environmental engineering... waiting with a 3.75 for structural engineering. I'm a little worried because I finished up a lot of prereqs in winter/spring.

answer is yes. my girlfriend got accepted with 3.62 gpa as mechanical engineering. i am waiting for mine, i have a higher gpa, but my major is EE

I got accepted to UCSD for Computer Science which is in the school of engineering if that helps.

No, still waiting.
Striff,what is ur gpa?
My major is Computer engineer
Gpa: 3.71

My GPA was a 3.6

I go to a CCC near UCSD...I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Same with Striff, 3.2ish GPA

Still waiting, Mechanical Eng. major, 3.40gpa. I just read that they don't look at your essays. What a bummer, I worked hard on those.

Hey mediocre. Haven't heard from san diego either. The wait begins again haha.

I know, right? The wait is killer.

Of the four csu's I applied to, 2 waitlisted me and 2 accepted me. I'm hoping to have better luck with the UC's, I don't think they are cutting admissions as much as the state schools.

Nope, all the school's newsletters there only cutting freshman admissions. There actually increasing transfer seats. I know davis and san diego are at least. It was on there newsletter thing. So we may have a chance. I called slo, and they only had 19 seats available for civil and 150 kids applied. Don't like the stats one bit haha. I'm sure we'll have better luck with uc's. What other schools did you apply too?

Well, I know that the UC system isn't cutting admissions. I was under the impression that csu's were though. For instance, I saw this about SDSU: California budget cuts leave transfer students hanging - News

I actually would pick SLO over UCSD, we'll see what happens though...

Other schools I applied..
UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCSD
Cal Poly, San Jose State, Cal Poly Pomona, SDSU (those first 2 waitlisted me)

yeah. I knew CSU's were but knew uc's weren't so we were on the same track haha. I applied to la, irvine, sd, and davis. Im hoping for davis, since I want that college town feel, but honestly from what i'm hearing and what not, ill be happy with any choice.

SJ State waitlisted you! Wow, that is not a tough school to get into at all. Once you start getting accepted to the UCs you wont even care about SJ State anymore.

EE, with GPA 3.8... still haven't heard anything...

I know...sjsu. That's the last college I thought wouldn't accept me.

chemical engineering.. gpa3.92
still nothing yet...

My GPA was 3.6

I wouldn't worry about it guys. They only release a portion of the admits at a time.

What's bugging me is that Cal Poly Pomona (already admitted me) is pushing me for the $100 deposit to reserve my admission spot, and pushing for a deposit on a dormitory. It's obvious that that is how they do business, they push for these deposits before students hear from other schools. I suppose it would just be nice if I was to hear from the other schools of my choice so I can start making some decisions. I can't seem to establish a hierarchy between CPP, UCSD, and UCD (for mech. engineering). They all seem like great schools.

Ogi

Ogi010, just word of advice if you do get other choices: My bf goes to CPP Mech Engineer major and was dissatified bc of math & sci budget cuts, altho there were some top notch profs. So he is (planning on) transferring out to a UC (LA, Cal, SD) and even private schools (Harvey Mudd). Not a bad school at all, but just to give you perspective.
