Well, I don't plan to even try to co-op until my 3rd year, but it's 5:20AM and I am taking a break from my project...

Any way has anyone here ever co-op'd somewhere and how did you go about doing this?

From what I gather I need to put a profile on the engenius thing and talk to the ECRC. It kinda sucks that co-oping is 2 semseters, but if I can just do it the winter and summer semesters I could still graduate in 4 years, which would be nice.

co-ops are usually summer+fall, or winter+summer. I don’t think it’s usual to have fall+winter semesters.
Anyway I accepted a co-op position at a big name company and it will be from august to december only. Kinda short for a co-op, its more like an internship during the academic semester to me.

I started attending career fair starting this past fall, got some interviews for internships, but no luck getting them. I went again for winter, still nothing. Surprisingly the company gave me an interview slot before the career fair even though they were here accepting more resumes. I applied it through engenius pretty early, so that’s probably why. Anyway, I applied to every position on engenius that wants ME majors, sometimes through company websites if im not lazy. I never really wrote cover letters.

I think co-op during your third yr is a good idea, but definitely start looking next year.

I’m doing a co-op right now for a company in Appleton, WI. I love it and getting real-world experience before all your classmates makes you look better than your classmates when you graduate. I started in January and will continue till August end. I will have to do one last semester in the Fall as I’m a senior in chemical engineering and missed this winter semester (4 years + 1 extra semester).

I found this job by searching and applying for co-op positions from job boards like monster and indeed. I applied to this company directly, but you can put a profile one engenius and I remember that every semester they have a seminar on co-op with 3 big companies where they talk with you and you can talk to the career center to help you find out. Also, go to job fairs and ask if they are hiring co-ops along with looking on engenius.
