Any Fall 2013 folks out there?

My son applied EA for Fall 2013 and was accepted a couple of weeks ago. We’ve scheduled a visit for next Monday and we’re excited to spend some time on the campus. We’re about an hour from Bennington, a town which we find to be very charming. Never actually been on the campus though. So far, I’ve found the college to be very personable and responsive.

Already they have his estimated financial aid package available, which is amazing (not his package, but that’s it’s already been put together!). I’m hoping there might be some room for negotiation, but at least it’s really nice to have something at this point to start working and planning with.

Hope to hear from some others who are looking at Bennington as well!

My son was also accepted EA to Bennington and will probably attend. He really loves the school–has visited twice.
It’s frustrating that no one seems to post on this thread!

Congratulations to both your sons. My daughter graduated from Bennington a couple of years ago and she was heart broken to leave. There is a very strong Bennington network, but you’re not going to find them on College Confidential. As a mom I find it very informative and friendly, but Bennington kids are way too cool for this site. I hope if your sons go, they love it as much as my daughter did.

It’s great to hear that your daughter loved Bennington, danceclass! We spent most of the day there yesterday and really loved it. It has ended up tied for first choice for my son! He’s a big musician (rocker - guitar and vocals) and the student tour guide we had is also a big musician (folk rocker - guitar and vocals), so we got to learn a lot of inside, informal info about what it’s like to be a non-classical musician at Bennington - and it sounded great!

We also really loved the housing situation - it seems to be very comfy and homey. We’ll see what happens, but I do really believe S would be super happy there!

fosterte, Glad to hear you liked it. Just out of curiosity, what is his other choice? My younger daughter is at Bard, and I could rave about that just as well, especially for a musician. Yes, the houses are great, and they each have there own character, too. Freshman get placed randomly, but soon the kids know where they feel they belong, and usually manage to get moved the next semester. My daughter liked the older clap board houses the best.

BARD!! LOL! We’re not full-pay, though, so the amount of financial aid we get will be one of the most critical deciding factors. Fortunately, he has a couple other great schools that are just a little in line behind Bennington and Bard, so if things don’t work out at B or B, I’m sure he’ll still be happy, but I really, really, really hope he does get to go to either B or B!

See there! They are really very similar schools. If he will be happy at one, he would probably be happy at the other. If my older daughter’s experience is anything to go on, your financial aid package will likely be better at Bennington. She got an academic scholarship for about half her tuition if I’m remembering correctly.
