Any fellow Whovians out there?

What did you think of last night’s episode (with spoilers)?

I almost jumped up and down at the end, I was so excited to see my favorite Doctor returning. And he’ll be with Donna! The Doctor Donna! I only have to wait a year :frowning: .

Back in college, I watched the earlier Doctor Who’s but don’t remember much about them. The new Doctors - watched Nine, Ten, and most of Eleven multiple times. Twelve and Thirteen just once. The episode was a great love letter to Classic Who, even if the plot points weren’t necessarily understandable.

I’m still catching up, so I’m not reading the thread for now.

Better than expected. Because of return of companions and former doctors woven in plot. Sad the support group is too late for Sarah Jane. Excited for Doctor and Donna and eventually new doctor

I liked it, loved the ending. 10 and Donna are my favorite pair!! Growing up Tom Baker was my favorite, but David Tennant took the lead; the Adipose episode still cracks me up. There were some writing holes for me; the beginning was a bit muddled, but it came around. I was glad they brought Graham back in with Yas, and I liked seeing Davison, McCoy and Ace. Chibnall has been such a let down; unfortunately he didn’t do Jodie Whitaker or Mandip Gill justice. I’m glad Davies is coming back, but Moffat by far wrote more of my favorites. What did you guys think about the Master’s role last night?

Loved 10, 11 and 12 (have watched and rewatched those episodes) and incredibly excited that Tennant and Tate are reuniting for the 60th anniversary (a bit cruel to make us wait until Nov 2023!). Honestly wish they’d do a whole season with them. Also grateful RTD is returning ….if only he might convince Moffat to pen a few episodes as well. Was not a fan of Whittaker’s doctor although most of it I attribute to Chibnall’s poor writing and overall leadership. Definitely looking forward to meeting the 15th doctor with RTD at the helm.

There were some companions that I didn’t like or appreciate at first but the more times I watched their episodes, the more they grew on me until I loved them. Donna was one of those and now I think she was the best of companions. I just finished watching The Sandman and Arthur Darvill starred in a standalone extra episode - Rory is another that became more and more special. Clara, on the other hand…sorry, Impossible Girl, just couldn’t warm to you.

I never really understood The Master - loved being (re) introduced to him via Derek Jacobi. But he’s been a bit over the top for me - actually, other than as Missy.

I had never watched The Sarah Jane Adventures but discovered them during a massive binge rewatch of all the Doctors and kind of integrated the series - along with Torchwood. Who didn’t love Captain Jack!

Favorite episodes? Turn Left and Vincent and the Doctor to start.

Sorry, got a bit away from discussing the last episode!

Agreed, Clara never came around for me; I liked Rose, probably better than Eccleston, though I really like him in other roles. I liked Amy; D20 actually had a “crack in time crack” painted over her bed for years. Matt Smith/Amy were her favorite duo. Rory grew on me as well, but it took time. Although not a companion, River was another favorite of mine; I like strong/sassy female characters :grinning:

I think it started with the talking frog episode and went downhill from there. I think Whitaker captured the goofy personality of the doctor, but the writing was just so bad, no character development over her tenure. As ratings fell, he started throwing everything but the kitchen sink in the storyline; it just felt like too much stuff, not enough depth and too many plot holes.

Let us know what you think when you get to watch.

Oh no! Doctor Who is moving to Disney +. New episodes in 2023 will air on BBC in the UK but elsewhere in the world you’ll need Disney+.

D20 just texted that to me :frowning: we have Disney+, but I really wanted to cancel it along with some other streaming services

On a funny note; I just received this notification from Amazon  I’d ordered it for D20 last week.

We don’t have Disney + but I will sign up next fall just for Doctor Who alone. There’s plenty of other shows I’d like to watch on that channel so will likely suspend Netflix and binge Disney+ for part of the winter.

Yes, River Song is another character that I didn’t like at first but grew to love.

I liked Clara in general. He first episode was so good. But after a while writing let her down as well. Hated way she died. Hated they brought her back and then as immortal and hated Maisie Williams immortal. Especially since the doctor spoke out about how Jack was a wrong thing after Rose mad him immortal.

Liked capaldi. Reminded me of old school Doctors. Matt smith not my favorite and didn’t like the trend of younger and younger.

Parent of a Whovian here. I’ve only watched sporadically. I like David Tenant a lot. DS prefers Matt Smith. I really enjoyed the stories with the first season of the 13th Doctor.

I am a whovian, but also parent to two, so I was sworn to wait to watch with them. I did watch the teaser for next year, and saw it will he streaming on Disney+ in the US, which I was happy about (since we already subscribe to it). My living room at home is actually a doctor who themed library, and I have pics of my daughter with the doctor and myself and my other daughter with captain Jack, as well as a bunch of memorabilia.
