Any Financial Aid Packages Received Yet?

I called the financial aid office, and they told me that they have mailed the packages out to some freshman, but not all of them as yet. I believe she said these should all be mailed by April 1.

They will start mailing FA packages to transfer students on April 1, and should be finished by April 15.

Has anyone received their financial aid package as yet? How much did it differ from RIT's Net Cost Estimator?

It arrived in the mail yesterday. Not quite as nice as we’d hoped for; I guess it is what it is. Still waiting/wondering about Honors program too. At least now we can sit down and compare the offers across the board and figure out what we’re going to do. DD was disappointed it wasn’t more because she really wants to go to RIT.

How far off was it from the net cost estimator (or didn’t you use that beforehand)?

Just got off the phone with RIT Financial Aid office. They didn’t even start my daughter’s FA pkg because they didn’t have her SS#? Guess they were just waiting for us to call??? Is there anything other than the FAFSA that we were supposed to submit?

I just received my financial aid package yesterday! Received a small grant in addition to the scholarship I was notified of earlier. Very happy with the offer, most likely RIT bound!

Yes, we did use the net calculator and it was about $6k off…

Thanks, Glutenmom. My son hasn’t heard yet about financial aid, and I get concerned when I hear that the Net Cost Estimator was off by $6K.

2muchdrama Same thing happened with my DS… Not sure why they didnt have ssn

I’m going to call when I don’t get anything by April 1st

Well today was a week ago that I gave them my daughter’s SS# as requested and still no FA package. will wait until Monday’s mail (4/1) and call to make sure they are not missing anything else :(

Two years ago we got our daughters FA package when we got home from the accepted students day on campus. Very few students had received it prior to that date.

Additionally I was able to write the FA office and plead for more funds so its worth a try if you’re sure about the school but a little off financially.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info rachelfran, that’s good to know. We have received FA info all the other schools she was accepted to and are getting very antsy. Fingers crossed that RIT gives us a good package.

I was just coming to CC to ask about portal information, thinking it perhaps would be there. Thanks for this thread. I think we will give them a call tomorrow although my son’s FAFSA should have that information, yes?
