Any first timers not studying??

I'm taking the ACT for the first time and I didn't even study one bit... I think I'd go good at the math section, English is meh, but Science I've got no question on how the hell do it it..

You don’t really need to study for your first time. I didn’t study for my first one…or my 2nd or 3rd for that matter :). It’s good just to see where you’re at without studying. I guess it might help to do a practice test just to get familiar with the format and everything.

me too!! i haven’t studied either! my tutoring schedule wouldn’t work so i basically just barrons ACT book and i have been studying it for only 2 days! i’m going for a 35 in reading 64 in English 50ishh in mathh if you can analyze passages well you’ll do fine in science i was scared about math but after taking the practice tests i think ill do fine you shouldn’t worry too much about science it’s all in the readings good luck!

All that I’ve done has been tonight… just partial practice tests and then I’ll read a little grammar book or something and write an essay.

Hoping for a 26 somehow!

I studied as in…doing some basic math review (like geometry formulas and the like) and just doing like 10 example questions from each section.

I know I’m going to have the worst time in Math (I have horrible math skills) and the Science (because I easily misinterpret things). I’ll do okay in the Reading section (I hate reading fast though), and I’m going to ace the English section (by far my forte).

I should be able to very well on the essay. But it really depends on the topic. I got an 11 on my SAT essay in 25 minutes, so I think 30 minutes is fair game for a 10-12.

I’m hoping really…at least 28, but that’s being optimistic. I’ll probably take it again in August.

Studying did nothing for me.

After taking it for a second time and preparing meticulously, I recieved a lower score than I did the first time with no studying.

I studied a little, i took the SAT last saturday and studied a lot for that, so hopefully that will just roll over… lol

it doesnt aaron haha. for the act u actually have to remember **** from like 8th grade on the math anyway

Aye, I know people who’ve gotten 35’s without studying.

I didnt study except for looking up the format of the questions so i wouldnt need to read the directions. I think I personally did well and probably only got 1 wrong on the math and none wrong on the science. But i dont know about my essay and english sections

I didn’t study the first time I took it- I didn’t even know what subjects were on it haha- and I got a 34
This time I did study a bit and I think I did worse :(

I barely studied for mine (took probably 1 practice science and 1 practice english) and got a 34 which I was happy with. got a 35 on reading which is usually my weakest section.

The ACT was so much easier than the SAT

I never studied and I thought the math and science section was super hard. Like the math section was easy but after 30 questions it got so difficult I couldn’t do it. And I ran out of time on the science section. What are some tips and tactics do I need to score good enough for Georgia Tech? Next test is september and I never studied. I have like 3 books to study off of. How much did you guys study to get over 30s?

Bought a book but did not study.

I felt good after the test though. I missed a couple math problems because I didn’t look over the geometry rules.

I like it so much more than the SAT though. No vocab and quick thinking is a major bonus on the ACT (I love thinking quickly. If anyone here does DECA, its similar to that). The one disappointment was the essay. Definitely not as compelling to write as the SAT one. haha
